While the Four Queens is what you would expect of a downtown Vegas casin, Hugo's is a surprise. Not over the top Gordon Ramsey flashy or new, just a relaxed atmosphere to have a nice meal. Four of us stoped by for diner, reservations on a weekend are accepted after 1 pm and are a good idea.

Lot's of attention to detail at Hugo's, with the "little things" adding to the enjoyment of the meal and not feeling like you are being 'nickel and dimed' for everything.

Looking for a nice dinner? Hugo's is an easy choice, and you can still go to the casino and play $1 roulette tables!

We ate here last night. It was recommended to us by the staff at Hilton Vacation Club when we asked where to go for a good steak. We'd never have discovered it on our own, it's in the basement of The Four Queens Casino on Fremont in Downtown. The place is a throwback to the kind of place my parents use to frequent. Waitstaff in tuxes, dark interior, table side salads, great martinis, flambé desserts. The staff was exceptional at their jobs, the steaks were perfect, the cherries jubilee was fun and delicious. I half expected to see Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr at a nearby table.

Walking downstairs you felt truly transported in time. It felt like you were in an old movie set! Once seated in a cozy booth in the corner, we were introduced to Victor and Vincent who were going to look after us. They looked like retired mobsters! They were great with their service and suggestions. We ordered a drink and an appetizer of select meats and fish cooked on a hot stone right at our table. Then we had an awesome salad made at the table. We then ordered The rack of lamb and prime rib and were assitsed in ordering a nice bottle of red wine by our sommolier. We enjoyed it all. Bill was about $250 including tip.

Heading down to Fremont St. after a full 2 days at a conference, we had a friendly taxi driver that gave us a mini history and tour along the way. When asked for restaurant suggestions, "Hugo's in the cellar of the 4 Queens" was first on his list. I was sceptical at first but was pleasantly surprised. The service was impeccable, table side salad was made, food was delicious and the steak was perfectly cooked. Highly recommend!

Remember the days when your salad was mixed tableside, and service was via a team? Hugos Cellar still provides that level of food and service. You enter the restaurant from the 4 Diamonds Casino, following the signs to the stairs leading down to the cozy, romatic restaurant. Once seated, you are greated by your head waiter who explains their inclusive menu. All sides are included with your main item, including the salad and fruit dipped in chocolate to end your meal. Their steaks are not only prime, but are air aged for twenty-eight days. Pricing is to the lower end of upscale restaurants in Las Vegas, but service is superior. Their wine list is extensive, but pricing starts at an afforable $25 per bottle level. Their wine steward is a fount of information, and his service is excellent. Prepare to be pampered when you visit!
