I had seen many ads regarding Raiding the Rock Vault and had read some good reviews. I had stayed away as I wasn't quite sure anyone could accurately pull off performing "The Story of Classic Rock" But the wife and I decided to give it a whirl. I'm very glad we did.
The heart and soul of RTRV is the band. And this is an extraordinarily good band. I've seen many of the songs performed by their original bands, all the way up to Bon Jovi (save for Hendrix & the Doors), and this band breaths new life into the songs.

Think of the RTRV band as less of a tribute band and more of a cover band, covering tunes and putting their own twist on them. And most importantly, owning the song! Turning Stairway to Heaven into a duet works quite well, adding a little extra funk into "Another Brick in the Wall" is right on target.
This is a crackerjack band that can play the heck out of pretty much anything.
Part of the key to this is that these guys have all been on the big stage playing for thousands. And now they're on Elvis' old stage at the for International hotel, playing great songs 5 nights a week. They don't have to travel, they don't have to learn new songs. They just have to do what comes naturally to them. Perform and ROCK THE HOUSE! And this band is having just as much fun performing as we are watching and listening!

Of particular note here for me, a great rendition of Smoke on the Water with keyboardist Michael T Ross paying tribute and virtually summoning the spirit of the late DP keyboardist Jon Lord, Tracii Guns firing up the doubleneck guitar for a spirited version of Stairway to Heaven, and Robin McAuley doing his best to hit those Freddie Mercury high notes on "We Are the Champions".

The narrative that threads through RTRV is enjoyable and it works in breaking this show up into something that is more than a concert.

So go see RTRV!

Our family loved the show. It's more like a rock concert that includes music from several decades. The story line is simple and our 12 year old twins found it interesting as they didn't really know the history of the 60's, 70's, and the 80's.

They musicians are excellent. The venue is not large, so any seat in the house is very good. Highly recommend it if you are in the mood to just listen to some classic rock.

I hatecto say it but I was reluctant to go but again, friends chose this show and it was awesome. All the music that I loved when I was younger and my dad and uncles listened to. I would definitely recommend it when visiting Las Vegas.

Loved this show! Started out a little slow, but after a couple of songs the energy picked up. The band (which changes periodically-they mentioned that Lou Gramm of Foreigner would be joining them for a few shows soon!) is diverse and extremely talented in every category - guitar, drums, keyboard and vocals! DO NOT get it confused with Rock of Ages which is a completely different show that is heavily advertised on the strip. Great entertainment!
