This restaurant was closed for the first portion of our stay and we were really looking forward to our first visit. Unfortunately, while the prices were high enough to make one think he was going to get a fabulous meal, the food was only so, so. And my wife's chicken breast meal was actually poor.

Closed to everyone, even hotel guests. You have to rent out the entire pool before they'll open it up. Misleading advertisement by Tropicana

My husband and I were given wristbands and invited to check it out. It wasn't crowded and that was fantastic. The pool was nice and cool which felt awesome in 117 degree weather. The DJ was great and the environment was a lot of fun. The only bummer was the fact that there were only 5 lounge chairs available. There were lots of beds and cabanas for rent but we didn't want to pay for one so it was hard to find a place to lay. Because there were so few people there, they closed early - at 4:30. We would have stayed another hour at least. We loved that it wasn't crowded.

We went to a pool party in May and although the music was excellent the service unless you had hundreds of dollars to spend wasn't good. It seemed they were only interested if you paid for a booth / bed. Drinks were expensive and the cocktails we had weren't great.

We purchased a Travelzoo voucher for the Party Brunch a while ago and booked accordingly. We phoned the morning of our reservation to double check the dress requirements. We were told they weren't too strict on this as long as we weren't wearing torn jeans & dirty sneakers. Ok.
So after reading online reviews & checking their website we showed up for our Sunday 2pm reservation with us gals wearing dresses, the guys wearing dress shirts & nice jeans expecting to have a lovely party brunch in the beautiful dining room. WRONG!
After being told they didn't have our reservation, we were escorted through security and had our purses emptied & checked for drugs. My SIL carries prescription meds for migraines and she could not bring it in. They wouldn't hold it for her & we took a cab so they told her to go stash it in one of the planters outside. Wtf? Classy! We were then escorted through the entire pool area full of young, swim attire-clad pool partiers. Talk about feeling over dressed. They sat us outside under an awning with views of the entire pool area so we could sweat our butts off. No elegant dining room for us, apparently it is now closed. Our waiter then informs us that to make it easier for everyone he would just use our vouchers as credit so we can order off of the menu instead of getting the brunch we booked for because they weren't set up for brunch. At this point we just want to eat & get out of there. There were a few other couples that showed up as overdressed as we were and a few that opted not to stay (they must not have had prepaid vouchers, lol) I noticed many others enjoying the baskets of pastry & mimosas that looked like the brunch offerings to me.
On a good note the sound system & dj were off the hook! The food, albeit from a limited menu, was great! We had shrimp cocktails with huge shrimp, club croissant sandwiches, quesadillas & caesar salads. The 2 pitchers of Ice Axe put smiles on all of our faces! So much so, that we forgot we were annoyed with the whole experience in the first place & I begged the recipe off of the bartender.
So to sum up my novel, if you are going here for an elegant party brunch - don't waste your time. If you are wanting a fun pool party - check it out.
