The hotel is located on the strip, north of the major hotels. We needed a room for just one night. We arrived at the hotel at 1 AM. There were a few shady characters in the parking lot. The check in process was quick. The bathroom had been partially updated, but the the carpet was in rough shape. There was an electrical cord or cable running beneath the carpet in the middle of the room. The mattress seamed to be two box springs put together. It was the springiest concoction I have ever slept on. The room was reasonably clean and had a coffee maker and old refrigerator. The hallway floors were uneven and creaky. We had a view of a concrete wall. The brochure in the room mentioned continental breakfast, so I asked about it in the lobby and the desk clerk pointed to the coffee pot. There was nothing else. The price was right, but I would not recommend this hotel if you are staying in Las Vegas a few nights. We needed a room as we were just passing through, and it was OK for just that, nothing more.

By the time we came to Vegas on that evening, it was already late and we had no reservation. I checked the reviews of this hotel and it seemed ok for one night.
Outside Vegas felt hot as hell on that evening,it was loud and crowded.
We could rent a room for 50 or 60 dollars + tax. I was very pleased with the the outlook for some privacy and quietness.
The contrast between outside the hotel and inside the room was fascinating. Outside: very loud, lots of crazy people, hot, hot, hot.
Inside:
Quiet, nice, relaxing.
I asked for a room in the last building, the most hidden one, so maybe that was also the reason for the contrast.
The air condition was kind of overworked. Setting it on 72 did not help at all.we set it then on 54, the lowest possible temperature, this was ok and felt like 72 or 75.
The room was very clean and not too small.

I stayed here on Saturday & Sunday nights before moving to a more upscale hotel (Harrah's) for the last days of my conference. I gave this place an 'average' rating for Tripadvisor, but if I factored in the value/dollar, it would deserve a 'very good'. By the way, there is another Super 8 on the south end of the Strip, so make sure you know which one you're going to.

I rated it 'average' primarily because of the location of the motel (see below), and the fact that I found (and killed) one large roach-like insect on the carpet. I should emphasize, however, that it was the only bug I saw, and that otherwise the room appeared to be perfectly clean.

OK, here's the scoop on this place:
(a) It's located about 2-3 miles from the central hotel district, but the excellent municipal bus line (the Deuce) has a stop about a 3 minute walk from the motel, and for $8 you can ride up and down the Strip for a 24 hour period.
(b) It's located in a neighborhood that's a bit 'sketchy' at night, so if you're a single woman planning to come back in the wee hours of the morning, you might think twice. However, I went out of the motel around midnight and didn't feel uneasy. If you have a car you can just pull right into the parking area in front of your room.
(c) The sketchiness of the neighborhood makes this area more interesting than the glitzy downtown. And my room was fairly quiet.
(d) There are some good cheap restaurants around--including a well-reviewed Cuban place in the Howard Johnson a block away.
(e) There's a Walgreen's a block away in the opposite direction; here you can buy the usual mix of mega-drugstore stuff, as well as a variety of food items sufficient to make a meal (crackers, cereal, refrigerated sandwiches, frozen food items such as pizza) .
(f) My room had a mini-refrigerator and microwave, so one can eat in if one wants.
(g) The motel has a well-stocked snack store (candy, chips, ice cream, sandwiches, soft drinks, beer, and liquor) adjacent to the lobby area.

Room Tip: If it matters to you, ask for a room with a refrigerator and microwave. Also, I was on the first fl...
