We stayed at a nice, 2 bedroom timeshare. This is setup very nicely, with a couple of caveats. There is no washer/dryer in the unit; but there is supposedly a coin-operated laundry on the grounds. However, they will supply you with extra towels on request, and they do a full service on the unit mid-week. Internet service is provided by AT&T and there is a fee schedule as follows: $4.95/minute, $9.95/day, $19.95 3 days, $29.95 for week. Note that there is a public library across the street which is supposed to have free internet access. The kitchen is very small; so small that there is no room for drawers which contain silverware. Instead the silverware is stored in the cabinets above the sink. This was not a real problem for us. The unit contains 2 bathrooms. Each bathroom has a Jacuzzi with a shower head above it; so it doubles as shower/jacuzzi. The Jacuzzi has a very high wall, and stepping into it could be an issue. My wife has difficulties in this area and was unable to use the shower. Parking is in the back of the buildings, but the entrance is in the front. There is very limited handicapped parking.

The complex is setup in a U shape. In the center is a magnificent pool with a water slide, waterfalls, and all the works. Unfortunately it was too cold to use it while we were there. The concierge is very helpful, as was the front desk. Check in was an issue because they could not handle the load very well. There were lines at the front desk and rooms were still being cleaned well after 4PM (Check-in time.)

We went to a timeshare presentation. There we were informed that Monarch had gone into bankruptcy and was being taken over by Diamond International. This doesn't seem to have much implication other than for current owners and resales.

The unit is on Las Vegas Blvd (the strip), but south of the airport. It is a 10 minute drive up to the strip. Just about all hotels on the strip have free self-parking. Bottom line - you need a car to stay here.

Room Tip: Ask for an inside room with a view of the grounds. Outside rooms get views of the parking lot.

I belong to Monarch Grand Vacations and Vegas is my home timeshare property. I rented the penthouse this trip and got the VIP treatment upon check in. Good stay with my family, including two small children who had a ball in the indoor and outdoor jetted jacuzzi tubs. Only two complaints this trip: (1) the mute and volume buttons on the tv remote were inoperative, but no one responded to repair or replace even after I (twice) notified maintenance/housekeeping (2) I requested to stay one hour longer upon checkout day, but was denied. (Denied an hour?!?!?! Come on folks!!!!)

Very unimpressed with communications between the online reservation system and the front desk staff. The online reservation system sends a confirmation email that the front desk check in staff and management have no visibility to. First attempt to check in was unsuccessful, as the front desk had no reservations listed in their computer. When you show them the confirmation email, they react as if it's from another planet, when in fact it is directly from their own website. We were reassured everything would be handled when we returned after dinner to check in later. Upon the return...no one did anything and the new desk staff was clueless. We were booked with an entirely new reservation, which puts us at risk for double billing. During check out, again, no resolution. We were scolded for booking a last minute reservation through their website!! Really? Now we have to experience a horrible check in/out and be educated on how we shouldn't rely on a solid confirmation email from their company. This place is very unorganized administratively, but also disappointing that our choice to stay at their hotel was obviously not appreciated. That's okay...there are plenty of customer service oriented, newer, nicer and competitively priced resort hotels in Vegas. More alarming...they took a photo copy of my credit card & license stating it is policy to keep it on file for many years in case of dispute. Sounds like they get a lot of disputes! Overall, the bed was comfortable, rooms were average in cleanliness & decor, but the staff was disengaged. I would not return.

Room Tip: Select a different resort...don't stay here.

For those who don't want to take taxis everywhere, we found the bus quite adequate. You can buy a 5 day bus pass (good for the whole city) for $20, but you have to get them at a 7-11 store. The nearest 7-11 to the Cancun Resort is on the opposite side of the Las Vegas Blvd two (long) blocks north at the corner of Las Vegas Blvd. and Windmill Street. (ask the front desk for a copy of the 117 bus schedule and it will have a map showing the main streets near the Cancun).
To get to the strip, catch the 117 bus just across the street, about 100 yd to the south where you'll see a bench. (Bus stops are recognized, with some difficulty, by small signs about a foot square, edged in blue on posts or attached to lamp poles. They will indicate which bus stops there.) Get off at the "Town Square / Calloway Golf" stop on northbound Las Vegas Blvd, and
wait right there for the "SDX" bus or the "Deuce" bus. (The Deuce refers to the fact that it's a 'double-decker' bus.) Both go on to the strip, whereas the bus you just got off, the 117, goes to the SSTT (South Strip Transfer Terminal).
To get back from the strip, catch either SDX or the Deuce bus. After it gets to the "Town Square / Galloway Golf" stop going southbound, it will immediately turn left along "Warm Springs" road and then it will stop within 100 yds at the "Las Vegas Premium Outlets-South" stop. Get off there, cross the street (at your own risk, be careful) and wait at the bus stop which is about 50 yd back towards the Las Vegas Blvd. (there is no bench, but there is a bus sign). Catch either the 117 bus which will turn south on Las Vegas Blvd and drop you right in front of the Cancun Resort, or the 217 bus which also turns south on Las Vegas Blvd and then turns right one block before the Cancun Resort at 'Blue Diamond Rd'. Be sure to get off right after the 217 turns on Blue Diamond Rd, or you'll be heading out west.
A note about groceries: the "Food for Less" store across the street and 100 yd to the north is a good place to buy groceries. It is a bit downscale, but cheaper. For an upscale grocery (it has organic foods, and dry foods in bulk, for example, but expect to pay $1 more for a bottle of wine) go to "Whole Foods" at the Town Center (see above).

Room Tip: Our room was on the 3rd floor above the lobby facing the street. There was some street noise, but no...

Stayed here second weekend of October. The villas are awesome. You can see the srip from the balcony. The resort is about 15 to the stip and 5 min from the south outlets. Calling a cab is a bit of hassle. The resort staff have to call for you until you are ready and wait about 15 20 min. Didn't use pool but they have 2 huge pools with slides for kids. Staff is friendly and for the cost it's a great value. Will stay here again.

Normally I don't sweat the small stuff on vacation, however when there is a lot of small stuff..This resort gave me no choice.
First the good: Grounds are well kept, pools clean, hot tubs were well placed.
Jennifer was quite helpful with travel arrangements.

We own a 2 bedroom and loft unit that sleeps 8 and we exchange with interval.
When we arrived with another couple whom we invited along they tried to give us a 2 bedroom with one king and 2 twins. Unacceptable, it took some time but we finally got a 2 bedroom 2 king unit.
This resort does not offer free WI-FI, not even in the lobby.
There is also no shuttle to the strip..so you have to rely on taxis that can add up very quickly.
The bathroom lighting is so dim I had to got to the window with a mirror to try and put some makeup on.
The towels were rough...great if you want to exfoliate your body daily.
The ice machine on our floor ran like a diesel. Thankfully we were down the hall a bi t.
There is no restaurant on site...only a snack joint and a lounge.
You have to call daily just to have your garbage removed. There is no facility on the floor to dispose of it yourself.
The decor of the unit was nice, however the dishwasher was ancient and so loud. It also didn't fit in it's spot and you had to wiggle it to open the door because of the fridge being right there.
We were going to Sonoma Arizona. Our concierge had no ideal where that way. I'm Canadian and I even know where it is.

There are a lot of other options in Las Vegas...take advantage of the others.
