Stay near the Strip but without the crowds. Spacious and elegant rooms, pools, all the amenities of a fine hotel, without the noise and commotion of a casino. Free shuttle to and from the strip. The staff made us feel like royalty.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the strip for a great view

We stayed here to get away from the rainy and chilly PNW weather and it was perfect. There are three pools aned numerous hot tubs. Many resorts close their pools in winter, but all pools were open and the pools were heated. There are lifeguards at each pool and comfortable lounges, umbrella tables, a fire pit with comfortable furniture, and plenty of towels available all the time. The rooms are great. We had a one bedroom with a full kitchan and jetted tub. The jetted tub was separate from the main bathroom and also had a vanity with sink. The main bathroom had a large shower.
Service here was exemplary. Everyone was so friendly and helpful! When we arrived one of the bedroom lamps wasn't plugged in. The desk called to ask about how our room was, and I mentioned this. In ten minutes someone was there and moved the bed to plug in the lamp. Anytime we had a question or even looked "lost" during our stay we were taken care of immediately.
I would recommend this resort for a quieter, less frantic,, Las Vegas vacation. We were never hassled about the time shares, and felt weocome and so well taken care of. There are various activities planned every day.and you are given a list upon checkin. There is a snack bar, a bar, and a convenience store on site. We will be going back!!!

Room Tip: We had a room on the 11th floor, overlooking the Strip.

The Wyndham Grand Desert is a timeshare resort about 3 blocks off the strip in the vicinity of Planet Hollywood Casino. There is a free shuttle to Harrah's on the strip which is very convenient. The facility is well maintained in and out. The room are large with a separate whirlpool between the bedroom and bathroom. There are two pools, one for families and one for adults only, a plus. There is a small store for necessities, but a bit pricy. A small lunch/dinner place near the pool with pizzas and snacks. There is a shuttle daily at 8:30 AM to a supermarket for $4.

If you are looking for a quick Vegas weekend, this is a good place to choose. This was great for a girls weekend, but I wouldn't stay much longer than that. The resort was only partially finished when I first stayed there in 2001 but a lot has changed in the past decade.
Room/cleanliness: I booked a 3 bedroom deluxe which was perfect for the five of us.Decor is up-to-date and the room was spacious. Just perfect for us girls to run around and get ready for a night on the town. I would rate the Grand Desert a bit higher on the room if it wasn't for the dirty sheets that were on one of the beds. Not sure what it was but we had to call housekeeping to remove the sheets and remake the entire bed. Other than that, everything else was fine.

Transportation: I understand there is a shuttle to and from the Harrah's Casino, but we didn't use it and rented a car. So I can't speak on whether the shuttle was reliable or not. We were so glad we did during this trip. Not only was the weather unseasonably cool (I mean it was freezing while we were there so not having to walk everywhere was great), but it allowed us to get around easily and park at the casinos. We also drove to Hoover Dam so I am glad we rented a car.

Customer Service: The customer service was pretty good. We had to call several times to get extra towels and to change the sheets on one of the beds, but overall, the service was very good. What was great is that they had our room ready for us when we arrived...and this was some time before the VIP check-in time (2pm). This was great because after a long flight all we wanted to do was relax in our room and they had a room ready and waiting for us.

This is a wonderful place to stay, just off the strip. They do offer free shuttle service to Harrah's on the strip about every 30 min, and cabs are also generally readily available. The place was beautiful, well maintained, and our suite was great. There is a Starbucks kiosk on site adn a little cafe, but I will say the cafe was not that great. It's not a casino hotel, but does have a few slot machines in the bar area to hold you over till you get to a casino. I highly recommend this place!
