“Good ingredients well prepared and presented”
Reviewed March 24, 2014 via mobile

Stopped there for a quick lunch at the bar. Super fast and efficient service. The house white wine is good. I had the large octopus and potato salad, which was very well presented and quite tasty. Good bread with olive oil and vinegars complement this healthy dish. And it is quite nice the feeling of eating outdoors in the piazza. Pricey? A bit. But it is worth.

“Unique and authentic”
Reviewed March 15, 2014

We happened upon this little spot while strolling through the Venetian. We decided to order some small items because we planned on going out for a late dinner and it was now mid afternoon. I had bruschetta and it was the best I ever had. My husband shared with me and also shared some other items with his sister which he raved about for a couple of days after. The beer and wine list was exceptional and later on, my sister in law asked my brother in law what he wanted to drink and he kept answering her with "the wine at Otto". I felt that you could get the same old stuff Italian restaurants are famous for but then there was a lot of unique recipes that I figure you would find in Italy. I regret not ordering the pizza, so if you go, that's what you should get or at least watch what others order before you place your own, food looks amazing!

“Really? Thirty minutes to make gluten free pasta? Really?”
Reviewed March 14, 2014

We made a reservation for early dinner before our show because they make gluten free pasta. What they didn't tell us was that they need a full half hour to do so. Apparently, it takes that long to boil a separate pot of water and cook the pasta.

We do gluten free pasta at home and it never needs more than 12 minutes in the water. My wife's pasta was disappointing as some of it was not completely cooked and inedible. That only happens when the pasta is not stirred. Someone blew it big time, especially after making us wait that full half hour after we ordered despite alerting them when we first came in that we needed gf pasta and someone went back to start the separate hot water.

We enjoyed the home made bread and fine olive oil and pungent balsamic vinegar with two salads. The arugula had a simple lemon and olive oil dressing and had a great fresh taste. The beets in another salad were excellent. Regular penne pasta was delicious with the pesto dressing. The quattro formaggi pizza was surprising in that the four cheeses were separate and each type was on two slices. It was like having four different pizzas in one.

We ate around 4:30 and there was plenty of staff around. One young man took our order, and another brought the food. What was frustrating was, despite all the staff waiting around for customers to fill the tables, few paid any attention to those who were dining. We tried to get attention several times of the male waiters, but they were so involved in their conversations with each other we couldn't connect with them. Fortunately, the only woman waiting in our area saw us trying to get others' attention and took care of us.

Late lunch for four with one glass of wine came to over $100. Seems everything at the restaurants in the first class hotels have first class prices to match. If you go in expecting high prices, it isn't an issue. But first class prices deserve first class service and food to match. This day, they were not up to it.
