“Near the strip but far from the noise”
Reviewed May 15, 2014

We booked at Desert Rose resort hotel for 3 days and 2 nights to tour our visiting relatives in Vegas. We booked their 2 bed 2 bath suite which was around $220/night. I could say we made the right choice coz it was enough to fit all six of us comfortably. It was easier for us all staying in one room. This will be good for a big group or family. It has its own sofabed and kitchen with complete utensils so we were able to cook our meals. The good part is its in a quiet location despite being very near the strip (just right beside The Hooters and just cross the street to go to MGM from Hooters). Our Uncle who had tickets to the Pacquiao- Bradley fight just walked to and from our hotel to watch the match.
The only downside was that the restaurant part was being renovated so there was no free breakfast during our stay. Parking was free. There is also a swimming pool. Overall i would say i had a good experience so would definitely go back again.

Room Tip: Our room facing the parking area was quiet.

The hotel has just been bought by Wyndham and construction was underway and it definitely needs refreshing, but somehow it was a great experience. After a long day of flying, the staff greeted me like a family member, made sure we had everything we needed and pointed us to our room. For a very reasonable price through Priceline, we had a one-bedroom suite complete with kitchen (with dishwasher). Coffee, microwave popcorn and lemonade packs were in the kitchen for us. Kudos to reception staff, concierge and management for making the best of a nice place that needs updating. We were only there one night but could have stayed a week.

When we original booked the Desert Rose Resort it was raked number 12 of hotels in Las Vegas. A few weeks before traveling out it had dropped to number 29. I was a little worried after reading the reviews. I understood that breakfast was no longer including after reading the reviews. The hotel didn't tell us about this. We had to e mail them to check this. They said we could cancel the booking which we did. We later rebooked saving £50!

Upon arriving we were a few hours early but they still let us check in. When we got to the room we pleasantly surprised. The room was like a mini house. Has everything we needed (we didn't have a baking tray but rang housekeeping who bought us one). The living room & bedroom both have a flat screen TV. Bed was really comfortable. Loved the large mirror over the bathroom sink. We stayed at the resort for six night. Only a short walk away from the main strip. This resort doesn't have any resort fees! Plus free wifi. We were invited to attend a meeting to receive $100 I'm guessing this was for a timeshare. We declined the offer and nobody mentioned it again.

I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family. If we were staying in Las Vegas again we would stay at this resort.

We stayed here a few years ago and loved it. This time it was ok. The location can;t be beat and the kitchen is a bonus. They no longer serve breakfast and cocktail hour, which I am ok with. Bed was very uncomfortable which was a change from last time. The bed last time was very comfortable. I guess this is an old one that has not been replaced yet. We were booked for a week and told cleaning would only come once during our stay, again i am ok with that if they actually cleaned. The bed was changed the towels changed and maybe they vaccumed but not entirely sure.. what i am sure of is they did not clean kitchen, dirty dishes were left in the DW, counters were not wiped ( crumbs were still on counter,) sink not cleaned. Also coffee table still had crumbs on it as well so obviously that was not wiped down either. The bathtub was left filthy. I am not sure what the cleaners are told to do on a mid week cleaning maybe it is just change the bed and towels but if they were supposed to clean they did not. The door lock when we arrived did not work and I waited 1/2 hr outside with groceries getting warm waiting for someone to come and fix. Anything else we needed was delivered in good time. Overall i would give this an average rating. It certainly has gone down hill since we stayed last time. I would stay again only based on location, kitchen and its non smoking .. but the rates need to drop to reflect the drop in services and the lack of cleaning.

Thank you for your review. It is always nice to see return guests. The dynamic of the lobby is changed due to the renovations scheduled for 2014. We are very excited for the amenities that we will be able to offer once it is complete.

The bed was so comfortable, that I was asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow. Rooms were clean and our room had a kitchen with all the supplies. I was only there 24 hours, but I would definitely stay here again. Close to Tropicana and MGM, behind Hooters. Bath tub was deep for a real bath. Property is a bit barren and walkways narrow, but pool area is nice.

Room Tip: Do not get an end room because close to entry doors.

Staying at the Desert Rose right now. Yes, they no longer do the complimentary breakfast, so what! Vegas is not short of places to eat. Coco's is only five minutes walk away and the food is amazing.
Reception area is a little tired, but you are not in Vegas to sit in the Desert Rose Reception!
Reception staff are amazing, nothing is too much trouble and happy smiley faces all the time.
We have booked a two bedroom condo for four people, plenty of room, bathroom each, with a kitchen with everything you need. Room clean and tidy.
Sundance helicopter tour is a must for your Grand Canyon visit. Very professional service from the limo pick up, amazing pilot Josh, picnic in the bottom of the Canyon was awesome! We even flew back down the strip! Then a limo ride back to our accommodation. We did give the pilot a 20 dollar tip, but it is not compulsory.
Give the Desert Rose a try. Five minutes walk from the strip.

I traded for this resort as a short-stay (2nights) with interval. We are Marriott owners, so the average rating is in comparison to that.

Really, we were quite pleased with our stay here, then again, we didn't have high expectations. Just needed a place to stay while in town for an event.

The best thing about this resort is the location. Near the strip (just south of MGM) but a quiet oasis from the hustle and bustle. The MGM has the tram, so you could jump on that and have quick access to the rest of the strip.

Having said that, our room faces north, which happens to be right across from the back of the Hooters hotel, it's pool area and blasting music. I would request a room on the other side of the resort if I ever come back. The music ended at a decent time however and didn't disturb our sleep.

We didn't use the pool, but it's a nice, (albeit small) area in the center of the resort. Rooms were clean. Some things (bathroom and kitchen) were updated. Furniture was not. Bed was surprisingly comfortable.

Overall, a a fine, if not fancy, place to stay in Vegas if you want quiet but still easy access to strip.

P.s. Value for us was excellent because we used a short stay, so just the trade fee for 2 nights was much less then any other hotels in Vegas.

Room Tip: Request room away from Hooters

We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay. Thank you for your input regarding the music from the neighboring pool. We closely monitor, so that the noise does not get out of control. As you noted, we are very excited for the 2014 lobby renovation, and especially the 2015 unit refurbishments. We will see you again soon!
