We stayed at the Desert Rose for 6 nights. We were, generally, very happy with our stay.

Pros:

1. Parking right at the back door. SO easy to get in and out of with our hire car. Very convenient.
2. Good sized two bed unit. Worked for us with my husband and myself, our daughter in the other room and our son on the couch in the lounge.
3. Good location to be able to walk to MGM but you feel like you are away from The Strip chaos.
4. Very helpful staff.
5. VERY impressed that our request for an early check in could be accommodated after 30 hours in transit.
6. VERY reasonably priced. We booked through Expedia.com about 7 months in advance.
7. GREAT laundry. Very clean, plenty of washers and dryers. Very important when travelling with children. Particularly when they are struck down with a vomiting virus for three days!! :(

Cons:

1. We thought the breakfast was awful. Too many people, no where to sit, very few healthy options to eat. We eventually gave up, bought ourselves ingredients at a supermarket and did it ourselves.
2. We could very clearly hear conversations from folk walking along the corridors outside our room and in the room above. We were on the second floor.
3. There was no eating places very close by. We had 1 x 2 bed suite and 2 x 1 bed suites for all of our family members. One of the older members of our party tired easily and by the end of most days, he didn't have the energy to go out to eat. So we would have to go on a trek to find something for him. By the end of our stay we got well organised and sorted out his evening meal in the morning so he was all equipped, food wise, if his endurance gave out and he needed to stay in for the evening. But having a restaurant/cafe on the premises would have been an enormous help for us.

Room Tip: Request a top floor (third floor) room. That way you won't be disturbed with people sounding li...

We stayed at the Desert Rose for 3 nights over the Christmas break. The rooms were large and the hotel is conveniently located a (long) block off the strip, near the MGM Grand. Highlights were the big heated pool & area which is open year round (big hit with my kids, ages 13 and 8) and free parking. We weren't impressed with the breakfast or evening snacks (why bother if it's just going to be huge quantities of cheap, low-quality food? I'd rather save $5 a day on my stay and eat somewhere else - it was that bad!). Staff was pleasant and the hotel was quiet... good for families who want to be close to the chaos but who don't want to be in the heart of it.

Stayed for 5 nights and found this place to be very convenient to everything we wanted to do. Parking was very convenient and it was easy to get in and out of the parking lot. The room is nice with a fully stocked kitchen. Also, breakfast is certainly adequate. Worked well for us. We are not big eaters. We usually just like cereal and fruit and that was available. The room was clean and housekeeping did a good job with the daily tidying. It was quite easy to get to the strip. Close hotels are the MGM, Luxor, Excelsior, Monte Carlo, New York New York, Tropicana and Hooters. All a very easy walk. Our only criticism is that we had a room facing Koval and it was extremely noisy. Sirens all night!! In hindsight, we should have asked for a quieter location.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from Koval.

The Desert Rose did not disappoint. I liked everything about it. The suite was fantastic, fully equipped and very nice bed. The pool is very well maintained and heated just right. Very close to the strip, MGM Grand and the connection to the sky tram is just down the block. The concierge desk is really helpful and practical which I greatly appreciated. The breakfast was very good and adequate. Also enjoyed the hospitality evenings. Highly recommend this rose in the desert.

Room Tip: Very good elevator service. The top floor is very nice and quiet.

A friendly and well-maintained apartment-type complex. Except for minor computer related problems, everything at this "resort" was very fine. The staff were friendly and helpful, especially the concierge staffer, Dainette, who went out of her way to find us restaurants and entertainment. The apartment was well maintained, quite quiet and the morning continental breakfast was more than ample.

We loved our 5-night stay at the Desert Rose Resort in Las Vegas. The hotel is conveniently located a mere two blocks from The Strip, but not in the midst of all the traffic patterns. Our accommodations consisted of a large living room with dining area, completely equipped kitchen, large bedroom and bathroom with separate vanity. The cost was EXTREMELY reasonable and included hot breakfasts, happy hour cocktails and appetizers Monday through Thursday and complimentary "USA Today" papers daily. The staff was friendly and efficient, including concierges who went above and beyond expectation to provide us with correct and extensive options. Parking was free and right outside our door. I am recommending the Desert Rose to friends and family who plan to travel to Vegas!

Room Tip: We asked for a room close to parking as we always have lots to carry into a facility.

I was disappointed by the 48-hour cancellation policy without exception. I travel frequently for business, and have never seen such a long policy. When we had mechanical problems which delayed our road trip departure I was unable to cancel my booking - even 30 hours advance. Be careful booking here unless you are very certain of your plans.
