For a number of years we have stayed at various hotels on the strip, Bellagio, Mirage etc, but have always gone to the Imperial Palace to gamble. The casino used to be laid out so that players could play roulette, blackjack, and various other games whilst enjoying the entertainment provided by the casino staff who would perform on a small raised stand. This would ensure a lively fun atmosphere for all, couple this with friendly chatty croupiers and at least you were always going to have fun as you lost your money.
What a change this year! The roulette tables are now tucked away around one side of an enormous curving wall which splits the casino in two and isolates players to such an extent that players feel they are in another casino!, the card tables are positioned on the other side of the wall and are near the performers but the performers stage is now right next to a main walkway through the casino which means that whilst playing, you feel that there are people standing at your shoulder all the time whilst they are watching the acts.
The croupiers on our table had all the personality of a rock, no fun, no conversation, not even a goodbye when they switched, (therefore no tips!!).
Whilst the Imperial Palace was never a "posh" place, it was at least fun and full of life. Whoever planned the changes has made a massive blunder I feel. We will not be losing our money there again.
