Unless you're completely unmoved by manmade marvels, this is well worth some time. Views from the road are excellent.

We have been at and toured Hoover Dam several times. This time we wanted to see the new bridge that bypasses the Hoover Dam. I watched them build it via the internet and wanted to see it live. It is spectacular. Everyone should see this at least once. It is well worth the drive.

my girlfriend and i (from the uk) visited the hoover dam on our first trip to the usa in sept/ oct 2012.
you can't see much from the bypass itself, so we drove down to the checkpoint.
we had hired an r.v. for our tour, and it was searched quite extensively at the security point, but we didn't mind too much.
parking was a bit hard to find even in october, but we managed to get in the pay car park across the dam.
the dam is quite spectacular, even though we had seen plenty of pictures, the views were worth the trip.
halfway across the dam is the border between nevada and arizona, so you can walk back and forward in time, with the clocks on the two towers being an hour apart.
we didn't take the tour inside the dam, as it was a very hot day, but we found the souvenier store which had good air con.
we will visit again on our next trip, and hopefully see more.
the dam and its surroundings are an engineering must see, and well worth the visit

This is one of those iconic attractions that you really shouldn't pass up. Besides what it meant in an historical standpoint during the depression, and the engineering feats to get it up in the short time frame, it has become a national achievement that symbolizes the can-do spirit of the country.

my third time and I still see and appreciate more; a must side tour for Vegas tourists; you can still drive across the dam from Nevada to Arizona side but now you must turn around at the overlook on the Az side and come back across to take Rt93 across the new bridge if that is your desired route.
