My husband and I took the 2.5 hr tour of Monument Valley, which includes a trip into the restricted area to see things you can't without a guide. I think due to the roughness of the road and the option of seeing these extras, it is well worth the $65/person!! Also, we called and within one hour left on our tour - we were only two people but that was okay and the tour guide Sam was very helpful, friendly and informative! He was born and raised in that area and so we had the perspective and insight of a native Navajo who could tell us about the history and customs of his people. The restricted area included several really cool "arches" as well as some pictographs - we were often alone at these stops!! We both agree that this was the way to go, and definitely worth the money!
