This was a BLAST! The scenery was incredible - the trip begins at the base of Hoover Dam. It is an amazing way to see the dam, from such a different perspective. Don't be afraid if you want to bring your children or are scared of rafting - the water is VERY calm. You will, however, get wet! There aren't any rapids, but the guide will drive into the wakes of other boats so that you get a chance to cool down from the sweltering heat in the canyon (it was 115 degrees outside when we were there). The water is cold! Don't bring anything that you don't want to get soaked (especially if you are sitting on the outside pontoons). The trip took nearly a full day - starting from the casino around 9:30 and ending around 3:30. The total rafting time was about 3 1/2 hours. You are served a box lunch halfway through. Our guide, Brian, was great - he grew up in the area and was full of a lot of interesting history about the construction of Hoover Dam and the surrounding areas.

“An interesting thing to do in Vegas...outside of casinos!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 26, 2011

If you want a break from the glitzy & beguiling Strip, this is a good option(although a bit pricey). It is a well-organised trip down the Colorado River...with a few stops by the river & a few sightings of wild animals thrown in it.

Makes for a good change in pace. I enjoyed it....

“What a way to spend a day away from the Strip!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 18, 2011

If you can pry yourself out of bed early during your Las Vegas stay, this raft trip down the Colorado is well worth it. It is relaxing and informative, and the view of Hoover Dam from the embarcation point is something you won't find elsewhere. The trip is leisurely and on smooth water, but still be prepared to get some spray over the top of the raft. Sunscreen and a hat are absolutely required, or you will be hurting by the end of the trip. The guide we had, Brian, was patient, knowledgeable, and humorous without giving the impression he was a frustrated stand-up comedian. The chance to see big-horn sheep (in our case, the Nelson variety) in the canyon, as well as various birds of prey on the wing, was very exciting. Young kids might get bored as it is not a "thrill ride" but older ones and adults should find it a great way to spend the day. One note - while they had adequate supplies of water on board, the boxed lunch is not all that great; bring some snacks if you're a picky eater.

“Great trip”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 3, 2011

This is a slow raft ride down the river for 2.5 hours. It starts right at the base of the hoover Dam. It allows for some great pictures of the dam the bridge and the canyon. The rid is smooth and not white water. The guides are informed and humorous. You will learn a lot about the area and the building of the dam. We saw a number of big horn sheep on the way down. It is much less expensive if you drive yourself out to the Hacienda casino for pick up.
