“Great Room”
Reviewed October 18, 2011

We stayed in the Panoramic Room at the Vdara. Beautiful, very large room at the 51st floor. Great view of the strip and Bellagio Fountains!

Spent 3 nights at Vdara. One of the nicest Hotels I have stayed at and great value. Get higher floor as view from 12th sucked. Nothing going on at all in lobby. Really tough to get to strip and Bellagio is a hike. Arria is right across street. Nice no noise and no smoking. Pool is very nice. Resort fee of $20 a day is ridiculous. It isn't a resort. Just be aware that this Hotel is a place to sleep, very comfortably, and you need to taxi or walk to get anywhere.

Room Tip: Higher Floor facing Bellagio

My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights in October 2011. We had booked a city corner suite but were upgraded (at no extra cost) to an executive corner suite on the 38th floor. I have rated it as 5/5 and even after spending the following 3 nights in the Mandarin Oriental I would say it's more like 4.5/5 - taking into account the difference in price.

The suite was huge and had a great view of the Bellagio fountains and North up the strip. The suite was lovely and had all the amenities you would expect. The large fridge (including iced water dispenser) was welcome.

We were sent a bottle of sparkling wine after we checked in which was a nice touch. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful including the housekeeping staff who did a great job.

The hotel is in a good location although it is not directly on the strip - it really is an oasis of calm! The hotel is connected via a (mostly) indoor walkway to the Bellagio which is really the centre of the action in Vegas. The Aria is literally a 1 minute walk in the other direction and there's always plenty of taxis outside.

There are a few bad points though: i) the room had a few cosmetic blemishes (chips to woodwork etc); ii) the air conditioning unit was located (I think) next to the bed and was a little noisy at night; iii) if you want a truly 5 star experience the Vdara is a league below the Mandarin Oriental.

For the price we paid though I can't really fault the hotel and would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the Bellagio fountains - this should also have a great view up the str...

I love this place!!! I will definitely stay here again! The rooms are huge and have a nice view of the back side of the strip. The bed was comfortable. I loved the bathroom and the size. The kitchenette was nice and having a small table to eat at was great. I did find it a little odd that there was no dishes or cooking utensils in the rooms but I don't go to Vegas to cook so it was fine for me. Room service was great and the food was good. I loved that there was no casino and no smoke smell. the lobby and lounge are pretty, quiet and relaxing. The spa is amazing!!! I had the best massage ever!!!!! Staff was friendly and easy to deal with. Valet only was a little bit of an inconvenience during busy times but was still nice. Overall a great place to stay!!!

I was really excited to stay at the Vdara after reading reviews and knowing it is one of the newest hotels in Vegas but my excitement quickly ended as soon as we arrived. We arrived at 5:30pm and were told our room was not ready yet and we would have to wait an hour for one to become available. After a while waiting at the front desk for them to try and find us something sooner they told us they found a room and it was an "upgrade". When we reached our room we realized it was not an upgrade but a smaller room than what we had originally booked! I booked a room with 2 bathrooms and this one only had 1. There was also dirty dishes in the dishwasher that smelled. We called front desk to tell them that this room was not working for us and we needed a room with 2 bathrooms and all of a sudden there was one available. We then moved rooms to the one we had originally booked and we walk in and 3 lights in the room have burned out light bulbs so it was pretty dark. We ended up calling front desk again to let them know because we didn't want to spend our vacation in dark and they waived the resort fee. Jeez thanks but that's the least they could do for all the inconvenience. We also missed dinner reservations because it took so long to get everything straightened out. All in all the rooms we nicely decorated and the beds were super comfy. The bell guy was very nice as was the maid but we come to Las Vegas at least 3 times a year and I will never stay here again.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review regarding your recent stay at Vdara Hotel & Spa. We are sincerely sorry for the disappointment you felt with your check-in process, and for any impact it made on your evening plans. What you described is definitely not the level of service that our guests normally enjoy. Please be assured that this issue has been addressed with members of our hotel management team.

You also describe in your review how you were very pleased with the suite design, suite amenities, and the service you experienced with our Bell Desk and Housekeeping. We wish we had the opportunity to provide you that wonderful experience at check-in as well. Please reconsider us for a future visit, and we hope to welcome you back again.

Sincerely,

We loved this hotel - probably one of the nicest rooms we have ever stayed in. Room had kitchenette, living area with separate TV and very nice bathroom. All amenities in the room and the hotel were of very high quality. We had a view overlooking the Belaggio Hotel - it was great! We are not gamblers so appreciated not having to walk through a smoky casino. It is in a nice central location. My husband and I were there to attend a conference and the food that was served for the group was very good.(There is no restaurant other than a small cafe for salads/sandwiches/coffee etc.)The staff was all very efficient and friendly. If we go back to Vegas, we would definitely return to the Vdara.

Overall the hotel is very nice and still has that “new” feeling. The location of Vdara is kind of poor (it’s in City Center but the one way in the back and farthest from the strip). They provide a tram to Aria, Crystals and Monte Carlo which we ended up using a lot to save us from walking to and from the hotel/strip. There’s also a hallway that connects Vdara to Bellagio which was handy. This hotel doesn’t have a casino and lacks restaurants (does have a café) so they almost force you to leave if you want to do anything. Vdara could use some more people working at the front desk; at any given time it seems like only 2 were working and there always seemed to be a line.

Our room was clean and large; we were on the backside of the hotel so we didn’t have a good view of the strip. The bed is my biggest complaint; it was super hard and uncomfortable. If you can’t stand hard beds then maybe this hotel isn’t for you. We ended up walking through Aria and The Cosmopolitan and both seemed to have more going on and more glamorous/chic than Vdara. I think they’re both a little more expensive but it’s probably worth it. Next time in Vegas I’ll be staying at one of those instead of Vdara.
