Unfortunately the disappointing reviews didn’t deter me from giving the Waldorf a chance. They were right and my stay was disappointing as well.
I booked a strip view suite for a couples weekend, prepaid well in advance. I arrived and was given a ‘suite’ on the 5th floor - room 501. I saw more parking garage than strip (see photo). Strike one. When we arrived someone from their staff was in the room, and they said they were making sure the TV was working. It looked more like they were taking a break and watching the Golden Knights game, but whatever, not a huge deal, I just wanted to get on with my evening.
I went upstairs and asked for the room to be changed. Three people then proceeded to tell me three different things about what rooms were and were not available. They told me they could get me to the 6th floor but as you can see from the photo it would make no difference. I told them they shouldn’t be advertising this as a strip view room. The fact that I booked far in advance, that I was a Hilton gold member, none of that made a difference. They asked me expectantly what I wanted them to do and I just said it’s their job to get this right, not mine. Their manager was out at this point - Dante - and said he’d look into how...Unfortunately the disappointing reviews didn’t deter me from giving the Waldorf a chance. Their manager was out at this point - Dante - and said he’d look into how they can make it better. I said thanks, please do, because while it’s not the end of the world this seems to be a pretty silly oversight. Never heard from him after that. Strike two.
Second room the following night was on the 20th floor and was an actual strip view - room 2001. Had my privacy sign on so they didn’t turn down the bed for me and texted me to ask if I wanted it done. I said yes come at 8pm. That was also not done. Strike three.
The room had a great view but I don’t think they’d done anything in terms of upgrades. There was a creaking wood sound for some reason, maybe the high winds this weekend. Calcium deposits on the shower walls made this strike 4.
They initially offered me an upgrade to the penthouse suite for $700 and nothing else. I politely said no, because I’m not going to pay even more to fix their mistake. Not going to be a customer and pay anything else after this trip either. More
