I just spent two nights at the Mandarin Oriental in Las Vegas and it was the best!

The hotel is set up oddly with the real lobby on the 23rd floor with a good view. All hotel rooms are on lower floors and residences are on higher floors. All facilities are exceptional as is service and the hotel does not have a casino.

We recently stayed at the Four Seasons Las Vegas as well and MO was a definite cut above.

Our room was an upgrade and had a fabulous view of the Strip. It was elegant and had fantastic controls for lights and drapes. The drapes were electronic and fun to use. The remote ties into the TV remote and controls are on screen for drapes, TV and thermostat. Very cool.

Our continental breakfast was included and is handled in a neat fashion. Continental breakfast has a cost on the menu but you can use that value to offset anything else you choose to order.
Food at MOzen was very good for breakfast as well as dinner.

If you like the best, stay at the Mandarin Oriental. it is wonderful. The best in Vegas!

Room Tip: All rooms are great. Get a strip view room if you can.

The Mandarin Oriental has the best of both worlds on the Las Vegas strip. It is close enough to many big casino hotels, but mercifully free of a casino floor.

So, you can visit many of the cigarette saturated casino hotels on your doorstep with non existent lobbies that seamlessly spill into gaming floors and watch people act like rats in a neuroscience experiment that don’t quite understand they cannot really win. Or, you could roll up at the hidden away entrance and be greeted by charming attendants in top hats and be whisked up to the 23rd floor sky lobby. As you walk into the lobby you are struck by the calm, sheer zen elegance of this place. Huge windows wrap around and reveal a great view of the strip below. The contrast of the carnival outside and the calmness inside is extraordinary.

Our experience at all points of our stay proved exceptional. The desk staff checked us in with natural poise and politeness. While checking in our daughter put the concierge through her paces, testing her skills in arts and crafts with a request to cover her diary in a paper slip cover to facilitate further artistic endeavor. She did so well at this task we regretted not bringing all her school books for the new year.

The décor of the lobby and bar area is beautifully rendered in the Mandarin signature dark wood veneers, pressed metal features, deep red/orange accents and beautiful layered lighting. The elevator had a upholstered bench which added a degree of luxury and refinement to time spent in the lift. The hallways to the rooms felt plush and peaceful.

We booked a strip view room for a great view. The room was large and had every detail covered. The room was controlled by automation for bedside control of climate, lights, curtains and audiovisual needs. The luxurious central bathroom had a deep tub and separate shower and toilet cubicles. The bed was comfortable and pillows soft and supportive. The room had a audiovisual connection panel that allowed you to connect and play music and video from your own device, but what’s better there was a little box with every conceivable connector cable to achieve the hook up.

The gym was state of the art with great equipment and a great view. There were two lap pools long enough to swim decent laps. The spa pool was a welcome relief given the cold winter weather we experienced.

The lobby bar has 180 degree strip views. You can look at the Eiffel tower while watching planes drift into McCann airport. The barmen make a mean Lemondrop martini. What’s better, is they make it quickly and consistently. There is nothing worse that returning to a bar for a cocktail you enjoyed yesterday to find that another bar man is too heavy handed with the simple syrup. These guys were precise and quick – cocktail commandos.

Special mention goes to Joe the Concierge. On our trip we have had some appalling concierge experiences in some Hotels that should do better (see my Key West review). Joe struck that rare note of being friendly and professional. He listened to what we wanted and then guided us to options that surpassed what we imagined we could do or see. He booked us into some great seats at La Reve at the Wynn, which was truly spectacular. He helped us book a Grand Canyon trip and then followed up by monitoring weather and aviation conditions to steer us to a tour that avoided the edges of the brutal weather system crippling the USA at the time. He restored our jaded faith in those crossed keys!

From the Mandarin you can easily walk to Aria, Cosmopolitan, Paris, The Bellagio, Monte Carlo, New York New York, MGM Grand and Planet Hollywood. Short taxi rides will get you to the outlet shops and the Fashion Mall. I would advise that for shopping you head to the Fashion Mall and hit the sale racks in Nieman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue. The bargains here made the outlets a bit of a waste of time.

If I was a gambler I would play at the Wynn or Cosmopolitan. If I was a pathological gambler I would play at the baggage carousel at McCann airport.

For me the oasis in the desert will always be the Mandarin Oriental. The beauty of the hotel is lifted to perfection by the excellent staff. Stay here for the best of both worlds in Las Vegas.

Room Tip: Strip View every time if you want the true experience.

The Mandarin Oriental worldwide is it at the apex of the hotel industry. When you stay at one, you expect the best and you're rarely disappointed. The MO in Las Vegas is no exception. Unlike the other cities where you find a Mandarin Oriental, Las Vegas is full of hotels which are full of people with full casinos. The Las Vegas MO is an oasis from the crowds, the noise and the glitz. Even finding the hotel (in City Center right on the Strip) is not easy. And that means there are few "drop ins" just looking around. Not only that, but the lobby is on the 23rd floor! Here, you'll find quiet, privacy and rest. The service is impeccable.....and everyone knows your name. And try the Spa! Highly recommended.

Forget about it.
Now that the Mandarin is operational in Las Vegas, there is no other place to stay. Granted, especially in Vegas, you can find inexpensive rooms which are nice (Venetian, Bellagio, Caesar's). But...if you want contemporary decor, fresh, new ambiance, this is the place for you.

I have stayed in many hotels all over the world but the MOLV ranks right at the top.

Quiet, clean, oversized rooms. Service by ALL areas of the staff. Excellent room service and fabulous restaurants. Private pool.
Needed a haircut while on an extended stay and the spa was easy, quick and good cut.

The advantage of this hotel is that you escape the "casino madness". Very quiet.
No crowds of people to fight through or loud noise.

Very convenient access to Crystals for shopping and Aria for gaming.

If you have the budget, Mandarin LV is a no-brainier.

I stayed 2 nights while attending a conference. The service was over the top from the minute the cab dropped me off at the front door. The front desk, the bellman, the housekeeper, etc were all incredibly helpful and friendly. The hotel is lovely with a stunning, calming decor. I'm not a big fan of "glitzy" Las Vegas. It was so nice to stay somewhere where you don't have to walk through a casino to get anywhere. I'm not a prude, I just find the lights and sounds of most hotels jarring. The Mandarin Oriental carries the zen theme throughout the entire hotel. My room (king size with strip view) was large and luxurious. Temperature, curtains, lights, etc. can all be controlled by the remote. Separate shower and toilet rooms. Full size soaker tub. TV in the mirror in the bathroom. The bed was extremely comfortable with a down comforter. The room was spotless and the the evening turn down service was special. More than anything, I appreciate the thoughtfulness towards female guests - not only was there a hair dryer, but a flat iron as well. Also, there was a yoga mat and a DVD. I felt extremely safe and comfortable. There is a teapot and great tea selection. My only comment is that I missed being able to make coffee in my room. Very small sacrifice for such a lovely stay!

Room Tip: I really enjoyed the Strip View. I could see the mountains, with a view of some hotels in the foreg...
