We did not realize that Mount Charleston was only a 45 minute drive from the strip. This was one of our day trips and was a nice relaxing scenic drive. We did not go skiing or snowboarding because we did not have appropriate clothing but enjoyed the drive up the mountain. We did take many pictures as the views were spectacular.

It's an easy drive north from Vegas to Mt Charleston. Great vistas and you can ski there in winter. Locals used to watch the atomic bomb tests from the area. I almost ran into some deer one winter on the way up to ski!

Husband and I have done quite a few day hikes on Mount Charleston and they have always been excellent. The trails are well maintained, not to crowded and the weather April-October is always great. Plenty of sunshine and no rain.
It is only about 1hr. from Vegas, but worlds away in terms of atmosphere.

My wife and I went up there for a night. It was freezing outside but we had a great time sitting around the fireplace just hanging out. Very Cozy!
