This is the second trip in which I stayed in the suncoast (and therefore second review). We were visiting family in summerlin and therefore decided to try the suncoast again even though our experience was not that great the last time. The hotel is far from the strip which was great for us as it was 5 minutes from our family (20-30 minutes drive from the strip).
This time we also traveled with our baby daughter.
Next time, we will try someplace else because even with the convenience of the location, it was not worth the price.
Last time we were there, the prices were very good. This time however, the prices were about the same (and with good deals on the strip, even higher) than much better hotels in the strip.
While the rooms are large and relatively large with a comfortable sofa, the hotel is very poorly maintained. We stayed in two different rooms. The first had a faulty air condition unit which smelled horribly when activated on heating (it was a very cold night). The second room had a door stop which was so loose that we feared our daughter would take it out and swallow it.
The service is also problematic. By default there are no extra blankets (again, we were there in very cold weather) and few towels. While we asked for extra, they took their time to bring it and only brought the blankets and not the towels.
The work area is very poorly designed (just a small round table) and the power outlets are positioned in a very uncomfortable position (i.e. you have to go to the bottom of the wall to charge your phone as opposed to having outlets on the table/nightstand in most hotels). The coffee maker cannot make hot water (so you can't make tea) and only disposable cups are available.
On the plus side, it has a usable fridge.
We had no problem receiving a crib (although there was no sheet for the crib's mattress or a blanket, we had to use our own)
The parking is fully outside (which was problematic with the cold nights). My wife had to stay inside while I brought the car because taking the baby in such weather would have been bad.
The hotel also has cinema theater which the locals come at night. This causes the parking to be even less comfortable.
They do have a TGI-Friday on the premises which can be used for room service. Note that the menu for room service is more limited and costs more (instead I went down and got the food as take out).
The prices of the hotel (especially in the weekend) have gone considerably higher than the last time I was there (we paid ~30$ per night when we were there a couple of years ago excluding resort fee. This time it went up to almost 60 for the regular room and 80 for the upgraded room. At these prices you can get all but the best hotels on the strip, certainly much better than the suncoast).

All in all, next time I'll try someplace else...

Room Tip: Don't bother to upgrade the room. All the rooms are basically the same with a difference in the view and the furniture (which bed and whether the sofa opens to an additional bed). Take the cheapest room you find...

I stayed for three days and I quite enjoyed it. It's quite a distance from the Strip but the mellowness and the view from my room was worth it. Although the decor in the rooms were a little outdated, they were very clean and very SPACIOUS! The one thing I liked about the rooms was that it did not have the adjoining locked doors to the next room, so privacy was well in tact. The safe and fridge were also a plus. Adding to the spaciousness, the bathrooms was quite also large. I had two sinks in one area and then the toilet and shower in a separate part of the bathroom separated by a door.

I ate at the buffet for the three days I was there. The selection of food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner was the same each day but was worth the price especially if you signed up for the casino card. You can't beat eating at a buffet for $8+ for breakfast and $11+ for dinner. Sorry, I could not remember how much I paid exactly, but know for sure that it was way cheaper to eat there than at one of the buffets at the Strip.

I'd definately stay here again!

We've been going to the Suncoast hotel the week of thanksgiving for 5 days with a large group of rock climbers and we all look forward to going in the large outdoor hot tub after a day of climbing. That was the reason we chose the Suncoast in the beginning. This year they closed the hot tub on November 1st. Very disappointing! The manager said they wouldn't turn it on even though it was filled with water. Our group will be looking for another hotel next year unless they change that new policy.

If you don't care about the hot tub or the smoke everywhere, it is an okay place to stay for the price.

We have not stayed at this hotel for over a year. Updated Buffet, I would rate it above average, order the shrimp on far left of buffet, It is excellent and you can make it the way you like it. New Mediterranean is so so, dessert not good, salad bar, good. Monday-Thursday, play 400pts and you get a free lunch buffet, 800 and you get a free dinner buffet. Casino has not changed since last visit, but you will like the chairs. Sunday, try the sports book and they have an excellent assortment of hot dogs for an excellent price and they open of the showroom for the football games. They have new carpet in the rooms and hallway, golf view rooms are very nice, rooms are large with ceiling to floor windows. They also have a safe, refrig, 42" TV and in room coffee machines. Double sink and a nice size bathroom. check out 12 noon, check in 3pm. Bagel shop has not changed and food is still average at best. The hotel is pretty far off the strip and appears it caters to the locals, but it has a bowling alley, movie theater, and small arcade. For the price the rooms are fantastic and if you like video poker the machines are plentiful.25 cent roulette and $5 blackjack. Service was excellent this time, but it can change with different personnel. Senior Citizen day (over 50) on Tuesday. Exercise room is small but open 24hrs. They have a SPA for massages on the second floor. Small pool (seasonal) and Jacuzzi. The covered garage is a little far to walk.

Room Tip: Sign up for a casino card and get the free lunch buffet for 400pts and 800pts for dinner Monday thru Thursday.

We love staying at the Suncoast. This was our 3rd visit this year- each a full week.

Rooms are clean and spacious. Staff is friendly. Rates are reasonable.

Our room featured a king size bed, couch, table, 3 chairs, LCD TV (wish it was on a swivel mount) plus big closet, fridge and safe.

Floor to ceiling windows with a view of the strip. Odd numbered rooms have view of golf course and mountains.

We will return in June for another week-plus stay!

If visiting friends or family in Summerlin this is the best value for your stay.
