perhaps staying out till 3am wasn't the wisest move for a 6am pick up for the Grand Canyon...however our guide Brett was fantastic and kept the conservation going with fun facts and interesting chat. there was only three of us on this trip so it was well worth the extra money as friends went on one of those huge buses and it was apparently a 14 hour mission. a hangover reviving breakfast stop at the weirdest gun firing range was an early morning highlight. going off road and then up to the Grand Canyon was great fun, the Grand Canyon was amazing with the clouds below us, Brett moved the group round everything to see it all and on the way back we stopped off road among the Joshua trees. Thanks Brett

I just returned from a quick trip to Las Vegas during which I scheduled a day trip with Bighorn Hummer to the Grand Canyon. Marie was our guide and she did a wonderful job. It was a few dollars more than a larger bus trip (we were in a Hummer that only took 6 people) and it was worth every penny as we returned to Las Vegas earlier than the bus tours yet were able to see everything PLUS things we would NOT have seen in the crowded bus. We were able to drive through part of the desert, seeing Joshua trees and some animals as well. Kudos to Bighorn Hummer Tours and thanks, Marie!!!

Booked this while we were in Vegas. Got picked up in a H2 Hummer with Brett, our driver / guide.
He was excellent and had a fun time.
Tour was relatively expensive but it was worth it since there are 6 seats in the hummer although the last two at the back did not look very comfortable but there were only 5 in our vehicle, so it wasn't a problem.
Took us about 45 minutes to get to Boulder city / hoover dam and Brett was a fountain of knowledge of the area and the history as well as keeping us amused.
Once we got to Hoover dam, they had our tickets which was included in the price so that we didn't have to queue and you have a couple of hours there on your own including the hour guided tour done by the bureau of reclaimation. This was the shortened tour, not the full one.
By the time you finish the tour, walk over the dam and come back to get a drink, the 2 hours are up and then we drove back to Las vegas stopping near boulder city to look at some of the big horn sheep near the park.
The two things I would have liked to have done would have been the full tour and also to get a view of the dam from the bypass bridge but those weren't included in this trip.
Having said that, I would still thoroughly recommend these guys for a short trip to the Hoover Dam if you are on a tight schedule. They also do other tours which we didn't get the chance to do.

Randy was an excellent guide during our full day trip. A week on, we are all still spotting and naming plants we'd never heard of before! A truly memorable day, made special by great individual attention from Randy.

Our family of six did a personalized Hummer tour that included the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam and many other stops. We had a 6 AM pick-up at our Las Vegas hotel and didn't get dropped back off until about 4:30. Our guide, Brett, had everything so well planned that we basically fit in 2-3 days of touring the area into one day. It never felt rushed or overwhelming, and Brett kept everyone entertained with his expert knowledge and fun stories about the area. We knew it would be a great tour when Brett confessed at the start that he had spent the evening before going over his plans to make it all work. This guy was prepared and it showed. When a flash flood unexpectedly blocked a road we were on, Brett just turned us around, took a back road, and kept us completely on schedule. He even brought "Edge of Eternity," a 1958 movie that was filmed around the Guano Point area to entertain everyone during the ride. It was surreal to have the film playing in the vehicle while we passed the exact same Joshua tree filled terrain-- plus he had actually shown our family the rusted out car they pushed over the edge into the Grand Canyon in the movie, and it was cool to watch the scene play out immediately after we'd been there. Towards the end of the day, when one of the kids said they wished they had gotten to see a big horn sheep (we had been looking for them all day) he took a slight detour through a neighborhood where he said they sometimes hang out-- and sure enough-- we got to see our big horn sheep! It was an absolutely perfect day, and it didn't happen by accident. This company knows what they are doing, and our guide was fun and determined to make it a great day! Definitely go "Big Horn Wild West Tours!" Awesome experience!
