“A Lovely Surprise!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 17, 2013

My husband and I travel to Las Vegas every year and have always stayed on the strip right in the center of all the activities. We've had the pleasure of visiting most of the popular hotels, but this trip, we decided to stay north of the hub-bub at the Stratosphere and we found it to be very nice. The staff was outstanding, the guests seemingly having a great time and very friendly, the buffet was one of the best we've had (great prime rib), and view at the Top of the World was magnificent. My husband loved X-Scream, one of the rides at the top! The casino was slightly smoky, but not as bad as others, and we can't stand smoke! Within walking distance to Freemont Street Experience was a huge plus...visiting Pawn Stars, Rick's Restoration and the Mob Museum were all within a nice walk and were so very enjoyable! On two more topics, Jubilee at Bally's was the very best show I've ever seen! A must for Vegas...substitute this one for a Cirque any day. Fantasy is another fabulous show!

The hotel and the service was overall disappointing. The condition of the guest rooms was terrible. Our first room had huge (foot sized) burn marks all over the living room carpet, completely unbelievable! The staff response was disappointing. We received a "temporary" room for one night so we didn't have to sleep in the burn room until a suite the same as the one we booked was available. We were given breakfast for 4, for taking the smaller room for one night. Very disappointing and clearly fake reaction from the hskp Manager over the burns, she was clearly aware of them and had to fake her reaction to seeing them. The temporary room had a broken safe and the TV remote didn't work. the rooms were very clean, but poor disrepair. Staff didn't express much empathy for our issues. We also were there for our wedding and my daughter's 15th birthday, the hotel didn't acknowledge these in any way. I work for a luxury hotel chain and was shocked to have these milestones ignored even though staff were made aware on multiple occasions. Other then the location, and. The retail area I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. As a hotel employee,i hate when guests give negative trip advisors, but since we tried every avenue in the hotel to address our issues, with no proper acknowledgment I feel this is necessary.

First and foremost, I would like to apologize on behalf of the Stratosphere for the inconveniences you encountered while staying at our hotel. Again, we do apologize that you and your guests had to find these burn marks on your suites carpet. Once, the burns were reported we promptly sent our team in to replace the carpet- as the condition of the carpet you saw is not up to our high standards here at the Stratosphere. We apologize that the challenges that you faced were not handled properly, and we hope that in the future you will reconsider coming back to our hotel. Thank you for choosing the Stratosphere, and again we hope to see you in the future.

We originally had a regular room and the lady at the front desk talked us into upgrading to a suite with a jacuzzi. It was an extra 150 dollars for our stay. The jets in the jacuzzi had not been cleaned in lord knows how long. AFTER our bath we discovered the tub was full of dirt and hair. The hair was from more than one source. It was gross. If you rent one of these rooms fill the tub first, run the jets and drain just to be safe.

Second- we brought a special bottle of wine with us. We were charged 6 dollars to use a carafe to decant the wine. We were not allowed to come downstairs and pick it up. Kinda steep for someone to take an elevator....

We stayed there for 2 days. Sunday & Monday.Great location. Not right on the strip, but very close to it and very close to downtown.Check in process was smooth.Lady was very pleasant. We had a reservation for a non-smoking room with a king size bed. Room was quiet, very clean, had comfortable bed, pillows, white duvet.Hot shower with a great water pressure. If you stay at their hotel, you get a free unlimited access to the tower's observation deck, where you get a view of the whole city.We went twice: during the day & at dark.Very nice panoramic view. There is Sturbucks downstaires as well as some fast food.We did not eat at their buffett this time, because we has dinner there in the past and wanted to try buffetts at other casinos. If you looking for a nice hotel in Las Vegas at a reasonable price,Stratosphere Hotel is a great choice.

If you don't need a suite like "The Hangover" Ceaesar's one... THIS is the place. I've been there three times (on may 2012 and on may and june 2013) in a normal room. CLEAN, never had problems of noise, always good attention at desk (Ron attended me in 2013, don't remembrer the lady in 2012) but they were quite polite. All the hotel is clean, even the restrooms at the lobby. The Bell boys helped with the baggage, the parking people let you park for a while on the front. Everything made a great experience all the times. Yes, you are NOT in the STRIP (thanks God), but you're near Pawn Shop, Rick's Restorations, Little White Chappel and you have the bus right there to Downtown and the south strip for $8 all-day. I paid $33 for the room.... and $70 on weekend day. I didn't want to pay luxury. I want to know Vegas!!!!

Room Tip: Look for the offers in the Hotel webpage.

We stayed in a select room on floor 20. The room was comfortable, but there is absolutely no soundproofing. If someone farts in the next room, yep, you're gonna' hear it loud and clear! The valet parking is exceptional and that alone would be reason for us to stay again. We will bring ear plugs next time. Problem solved. Oh yes, Roxy's Diner is not to be missed. They have an exceptional breakfast special featuring a ham steak as big as your head for 6.99.
