“Best Beds in Vegas.”
Reviewed September 24, 2013

I've stayed at multiple properties in Vegas but this has got to be one of the best beds I've ever had the pleasure in sleeping in!! Maybe I slept better because the property is quite, but I've stayed in penthouses that weren't as pleasurable as this. If you need a good nights sleep this is the spot. My actual stay was in September of 2011.

There was nothing special about the Westin in Las Vegas. The property itself was okay but not great. The bar area is just average. The worst part about our stay was that we could not even get into our room until 4:50pm. We were originally told at 2:30pm that our room should be ready in 1 hour. When we went back to check on our room after one hour, we were told that our room might not be ready until 6pm. We were told that since we had booked through a third party we would be one of the last people to get our room. We finally did get our room at 4:50 pm and were told that they would waive the facility fee since we got into our room so late. However, the next morning we received a bill for the facility fee even though we had been promised that it would be waived.

Thank you for your comments. We are very sorry for the delay at check-in; our associates try to get our guests settled in as soon as possible. We would like to assure you that the order in which rooms are assigned is not a result of the way in which our guests have reserved their stay. Please know that our management team is always available to our guests should any concerns arise. We encourage you to contact us directly if a situation further requires our attention.

We stayed at the Westin for 5 nights and enjoyed our stay. It is situated ten minutes walk from the strip which we found no problem even late at night and it takes you away from the hustle and bustle of the strip. As someone said it is close to the action but relaxed enough to lay low. There were some down and outs on the pathway to the strip but they didn't bother us and we didn't feel intimidated by them. We found it a bit sad really more than anything. Perhaps the hotel in general could do with a bit of a face lift but we found our room a good size, clean and a big comfortable bed with soft pillows. Just what you need after a long night on the strip. We had a really nice meal in Suede restaurant and the 24hr Starbucks is very handy. We also enjoyed the pool area, although small considering the size of the hotel there weren't many people around when we were there. I would recommend a Mojito at the pool bar, the best one I had in California! All in all we were happy with our stay in the Westin

I chose this hotel due to the fact that I had status with Starwood and I literally looked at the map and thought that this hotel was a good deal and that it wasn't "too far" off the strip. I arrived in Vegas with my batchelorette party and noticed the hotel is very much off the strip. It was roughly a 10 minute walk to the strip. Take this into consideration when you think you're going to walk to whatever club/restaurant/bar you want to go to and then realize you have heels on. In short, you probably won't walk from the Westin to the strip unless you're shopping or sightseeing. With that said there are homeless people begging for some change, randos wandering up and down the street tipsy or drunk and the occasional stray dog on the walk to the hotel. It can be sketchy. I dealt with both HOWEVER, I don't like people walking by you dropping cans of soda and then yelling at the top of their lungs startling you (from a really close distance) -- that'll get someone's eyes burning by that special little seasoning we love and use on foods.

The hotel itself was a little slow on check in. Other than that they were very friendly. There is a Starbucks on premises that's open 24/7 -- you may want to check that out. The rooms need some updates. There is nothing wrong with the beds but the rooms need some modern features to brighten it up a bit. Ordered room service and the food turned out perfectly - I was very surprised. The rooms were dark and the bathroom should've been a bit bigger. It seems like this Westin is an older hotel so in order to attract customers they certainly need to provide this hotel with a massive facelift. I have stayed at plenty of Westin's and feel this property falls short when it comes to the modern aspects of it.

When I return to Vegas I will stay closer to the strip - I love Starwoods but feel this property isn't as convenient and not as modern as some of the others that I was at.

This place needs a facelift. The casino is run down, the rooms a little beat up, and the couches in the upstairs lobby are stained black from smoke.

The cust service at check-in was great. The pool is a little lack-luster but should be expected for the location and the size of the hotel.

It is right off the strip so if you are looking to save some money this might be a good alternative.

Don't waste your SPG points on this one though (it is a 5 rating, the most expensive for SPG), not worth it - you'll get more bang for your points elsewhere.

Flew in Sat Aug 31, back Mon Sept 2 early AM flights. The Westin proved to be an affordable, off-the-Strip, clean, quiet hotel. I don't agree with their mandatory $22 per day amenity fee if not using their amenities. Professional staff.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet, high level room (we got the top floor)

Overall the hotel was quite nice as were the staff. We were expecting a no smoking hotel but smoking was allowed in the casino area so consequently it got into the surrounding areas so there was always a wall of smoke you had to walk through when entering or leaving the building. Unfortunately we had to leave 2 days early due to my wife having a medical problem. We booked through Expedia as we always do and they were amazing in helping us return home as were Alaska Air in fact Alaska Air could not have done any more for us than they did. Expedia did attempt to get us a refund for the 2 nights we did not stay but the Westin declined saying that all they would do is waive the resort fee ($19). I found this a little upsetting as being in the hotel industry myself I would have expected more, our hotel would have been more compassionate.
Our experience was not good and will not return to this hotel.
