We arrived to a friendly and welcoming staff on Saturday. This casino is busy and much hustle and bustle. The room was clean and kept up, albeit older. Maid service excellent. We stayed in the Mardi Gras Tower.
Must say, we were disappointed by the pool area because the sun was blocked on the east and west by the Harrah's tower and the Quad tower:(

Room Tip: We checked in early, so the first available was a queen, at the end of the hall, with the caveat tha...

Harrah's is on the strip and is attached to a monorail stop so it's easy to get around. It's rundown but safe. I was otherwise disappointed in both the hotel and the staff. Check in was confusing as the area is very loud. I immediately had a problem with the room keys, one was missing part of the magnetic strip and did not work. When I went back to the desk for a new key, an employee told me that I would have to wait in line again or come back in 2 hours. Then she sent me to a desk where they tried to sell me a timeshare. It didn't exactly give me confidence in the staff. The room may have been clean but the carpet was so badly stained that everything seemed dirty. The TV remote was missing the back so the batteries were exposed and the tub faucet leaked. I tried calling housekeeping but no one answered the phone. I reported the leak to the desk but it was never repaired. The room has a hair dryer, an iron and board in the armoir, and a room safe big enough for camera equipment and laptop. For energy saving purposes the AC has a sensor so it doesn't start until after you're in the room, and then it never seems to cool down. Location is good, everything else is so-so.

Room Tip: We were in the Monte Carlo tower on the 10th floor. There was no problem with noise.

Went to Harrahs in Sept for 5 Nights, like other people we were a little apprehensive after reading
some reviews before going but to be honest this hotel is fine when you consider the prices you pay. The hotel is really well located, the rooms are not luxurious but clean and acceptable, the maid service is fine & we even found the free breakfast at Starbucks really good (unless you are one of those who need a kings buffet in the morning). We were personally a little disappointed with the Toby Keith restaurant but spent plenty of evenings in the Piano Bar which is in the hotel, its really lively & happy with one of the best bar atmosphere we have found in Vegas, all the pianist are very entertaining & get the crowd really going. It depends what you are looking for but for me this isn't the hell hole that some reviews led me to believe & for those who are looking for a lower budget hotel it's fine.

The air conditioning never gets below 75 degrees. According to the signage, the room operates on a sensor and is supposed to get to desired temp within 30 minutes. Neither of the rooms we were in got below 75 degrees.
We had to change rooms the first night because they put us next to the air conditioning units for the entire building. It was very noisy. When we asked to be moved, they acted like it was strange that we had that issue, but moved us anyway.
I'm not a huge neat freak, but there should not be gigantic dust village living behind the tv, or at least they need to push the furniture back so I can't see it! Gross!
The casino floor smells. It is like they are trying to cover up the smell of smoke with febreeze.
When we went to check in, they only had 2 people checking in. Check in took forever. There was a guy In the front of the line who was getting very angry.
Wouldn't stay there again if there is a hotel somewhere around the same price.
The second room we got moved into, we could hear the whistles of the guys hailing cabs. I called to complain, but kept getting transferred, put on hold.
Luckily we had discovered that the window had been left partially open?!?! Once we closed that, it was more quiet.
Plus we went to eat at the café after check in. The server came to us, asked us what we wanted to drink, we said water as we had been on the plane all day. He grunted..waters...under his breath and we never saw him again. No one came by. We left and went to mcdonalds.

I really wanted to give Harrah's at least a "three" ... We've stayed there before and had a good experience.
The Good: The room was quiet; we had good housekeeping (enough clean towels, etc.); the hotel is well-situated in the heart of the action; the people are friendly; and we got a good deal.
The Bad: The air-conditioning system is very bothersome. Opening the door triggers the fan, which they state is supposed to return the room to your desired temperature within 30 minutes. What this fails to take into account is that in Las Vegas, couples don't come and go at the same time. We ended up trying to "trick" the room into thinking we were "in" or "out" ... The end result is that we were either too cold or too hot for most of the week.
The Ugly: The carpeting was very dirty (beyond what daily housekeeping can fix). It definitely needs cleaning at the least and replacement at best. In addition, the breakfast buffet ("Flavors") was mixed. The fruit was great, but the hash browns, scrambled eggs, and sausage gravy were barely passable. (Compared to the Bacchanal Buffet in Caesar's across the street, it was dismal.)
We still enjoyed our stay and had fun in Vegas. If you can't have fun in Vegas, you can't have fun anywhere!

Room Tip: Ask for a room that has been upgraded or recently remodeled.

First off we had to wait well over 45 minutes to check in, since there was only two people checking people in. The lady checking us in did not speak that great of english, so you had a hard time understanding what she was saying and she needed a magnifying glass in order to see what she was doing. She also kept trying to get us to upgrade are room for only $25.00 more per night. We asked what the upgrade got us, and she said maybe coffee. We said no thanks but she kept asking. Something else that was annoying was the resort fee, you have to pay a resort fee for staying at a non-resort hotel it was over $20.00 a night. Just another way for they to squeeze a little extra money out of you. The swimming pool closes at 6pm, which is really stupid. I think they do that so your not using the pool and to get you inside to spend your money. The cafe at Harrah's is slow. We sat down and someone asked what we wanted to drink, the drinks came, but we waited around for 30 minutes and nobody came by to take are order so we left. The first room we had was loud because of something on a roof. I went to check and see if I could switch rooms and the lady asked why, and I said that there is a loud noise coming from the room, and the lady must have thought I was not telling the truth because she said oh really your on the 9th floor so you should not hear it. She told me it would be after 2pm before I could get another room and she said that she would call me when the room was ready., I never got the call, so i went to the front desk to ask if my new room was ready yet, and she said yes it has been ready since 1pm. I said ok fine but someone should have called me, so I could get my day going. There is a McDonalds right next door which is nice. I asked how much a bottle of water is at Harrah's and it was over $3.00. I would not recommend seeing big elvis at The Piano Bar, they say it is free to see him, but really what they are saying, if you want to see him there is a one drink min. purchase so really it is at least $6.00 per person to see him. We did not buy the drinks but we could see from a distance that he was sitting down the whole time. Lazy Elvis is more like it.

If your looking for an on strip location that is in the center of the action look no further than Harrah's. This isn't a five star resort but if your willing to accept a clean room, good service and decent property with out the high price, stay here. The room was clean and comfortable. Not over the top and pretty basic. Check in and check out went smoothly. Pool area is small, so if your looking for a pool experience don't stay here. Would be happy to stay at Harrah's again on a future trip to sin city.
