“Smokey Hotel”
Reviewed October 11, 2012

This hotel is old and the air purification system did not seem to be working very well. Every where I went in this hotel the smell of cigarette smoke was in the air. I could not escape it. The AC unit in the room would run for 2 minutes and then shut off and ten minutes later come on for 2 minutes and then shut off. This cycle continued all three days I was there. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone who is not a smoker.

my husband and I recently spent a few nights at harrahs and were not at all thrilled with our room......we paid extra for an early entry, upon arriving in the room, the beds were made but in one corner was a wine glass with lipstick on it, among other things.....the chamber maid was very nice, tidied up.....then came back and stripped the beds and redid bedding.....however! the room itself can be be described as dowdy, dumpy......had trouble taking a bath.....view nasty.....were not happy....however the casino itself is fun, clean and wortth going to.

Room Tip: we spent one night in a third floor room and that was really bad.....the next two were on a much hig...

My wife and I stayed here on 7 and 8 October 2012 as part of a Cosmos tour. Our room (2547) had a view across construction sites to the mountains in the east. The even-numbered rooms had city views. Our room had two double beds and was very comfortable, but there was no free wifi, no coffee-making facilities, no microwave, and the minibar was locked and could be opened only on payment of a $25 deposit. They 'nickel and dime' you for everything, but this is common practice in Las Vegas. Our floor was quiet at night, but our room was a very long walk from the elevators.
The location is very convenient, being close to the centre of the strip.

Stayed late September 2012, allowed to check-in early by signing up. 1st morning, pool was closed, explained as a crack in the pool and closed by Clark County. Actually saw official looking people taking water samples!! Checked over 24 hours with 3 different managers, none were interested in complaints. Their only way of trying to passify me was to say we could use the pool at either the Imperial Palace or Flamingo (sister hotels), but there's no way we were going to walk down the strip in our swimwear, to then keep returning to see if the pool was available. Not interested in compensation of any kind, as they said it was out of their control. The pool is a poor example anyway.
We were on the 14th floor and you can hear everything from the hallway and rooms on either side as the walls are paper thin. Too much noise. The A/C was intermittent, but the time of year meant i just switched it off.
Flyers pushed under door, not acceptable!! Clearly the lack of security at the lifts doesn't stop anyone from entering the guest room areas. Great location on strip tho' is the only thing i can sing about.
By way of entertainment, clearly Big Elvis and the duelling pianos are good crowd pullers.
Definitely wouldn't return to this hotel.

I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights which was booked by the tour company we were travelling with and not our own choice. It is right on the Strip so convenient for all attractions.

Although the room was OK, big and clean I was put off by the amount of smoking throughout the downstairs casino. I had a no smoking room nevertheless I couldn't help but feel it was contaminated by smoke from other parts of the hotel. In order to get to the lift it was necessary to walk the whole length of the casino where smoking was freely permitted. Smoking seemed to be the norm in other casinos but was more contained and not so noticable.

No coffee machines were provided in the rooms and room service only at the most ridiculously extortionate rate, purposely I presume so one is obliged to use the downstairs cafes. I had a room on the 11th floor and very annoyingly had to go down to the casino level, through more cigarette smoke, to get morning coffee. All cafes were in the same area thus similarly affected so we found other places outside of the hotel for breakfast every day.

The unpleasant atmosphere caused by cigarette smoke colours my whole experience of this hotel.

Lets face it if you are not planning on spending much time in your room this is a great spot. Property was overall in good shape although the sidewalk going south was bottle necked due to construction. Bought the 45 dollar buffet pass which more than paid for itself. it's good at 6 other resorts, try the paris buffet it was great, with fresh made crapes to order. The store in the hotel is open 24 hours and sells pretty much everything you might need. Room met our needs fine although it was pretty basic.

We got a good value for what we paid to stay here. We booked a Deluxe Executive Suite at $228 a night. The room included a wet bar, living room, bedroom, and a large bathroom with a whirlpool tub and shower. We had two rooms and learned that not all these suites are the same. One had much more square footage than the other. And one had a pull out bed in the couch and the other didn't.

Speaking of the couch bed, when I booked the room, I called the hotel to confirm whether or not there were couch beds in the suites. I was told that there were no couch beds in any of the rooms. At check in, I was told different. To their benefit, they did comp a roll a way bed for the other room, which is normally $30.

Harrah's pool is more old school. It is basically your standard olympic sized pool. If you are looking for waterfalls and sand, then this may not be the place for you.

The casino is more laid back compared to some of the newer casinos and not as crowded. Overall, a good place to spend your money.

Out of the budget hotels on the strip, Harrah's is not a bad choice compared to Bally's and definitely a better choice compared to Imperial Palace.
