“Las Vegas vacation”

We really enjoyed a four-night stay at Harrah's in May 2012. Our room was really nice and looked recently renovated. we had a view of the pool. I was a little worried about noise from the bar and construction site below but the sliding glass door blocked the sound out really well. We got a good room rate by joining their rewards program. The location was prefect, right in the middle of the Strip. We also really enjoyed the free Big Elvis show in the afternoon at the piano bar. Our housekeeper was good and came twice a day to clean the room and then do a turndown at night. The bed was very comfortable.

Room Tip: The Mardi Gras Tower rooms had nice views either overlooking the pool or the Mirage.

After reading some of the very negative reviews about this property, I was worried I would find rooms in poor shape with bad customer service. Boy was I wrong! Check in went smoothly only having to wait aprox 10 min. in line. Had a great lady named Pam at check in who did her best to find us a great room. Had room 2457 in the Carnival Tower. The room was a corner room with a perfect view of the Mirage volcano with the mountains in the background. The room was basic with a table and chairs, a wardrobe with a flat screen tv in it ( we only turned it on once). Comfortable beds. The bathroom was decent size with plenty of counter space for two women with lots of stuff to spread out! Housekeeping came every morning, in fact she was there one morning before we were even out of bed. After that, we just put our do not disturb sign before we went to bed and when we left we took it off and our room was always cleaned by the time we got back. Regarding the motion sensored air conditioning, we didn't seem to have too much of an issue with it. The temp in our room never got above 75 while we were gone and it was a 102 while we were there. The minute we came into the room, it started and cooled the room down quickly. We were even cold one morning when we got up! The only reason I don't give this place 5 stars is: no refridgerator or coffe maker in room and the pool area is small with not enough chairs.
Also we used the Valet parking every day and never had to wait for our car more than a couple of minutes to bring us our car. Didn't have much luck in the casino though. You can't beat the location of this property! I would stay here again anytime!

First, as a hotel, I found the rooms and casino quite adequate. Clean, friendly staff, and great location. I checked in late on Sunday evening, and after registering was immediately passed to a Windham vulture offering time share pitch. Arriving at our room, found our room safe was locked out. Called the desk and was told someone would be there in 15-20 minutes. We left after a half hour with no help but someone came in the morning after another call. Large flat screen TV, but no hi-def programming. Found the restaurants overpriced and long lines for the buffet, HOWEVER for an extra $5 you could get to the front of the line. Huh? And if a cocktail waitress brought you a drink you could upgrade it to a call liquor for an extra $2, Huh again? Did most gaming next door at Casino Royale where a waitress would bring you Crown Royale on the rocks without blinking, and a mixed drink was $2 at the bar, less than half of Harrahs. And you were accosted by a Windham time share person every time you entered or exited the casino. Wanted a taxi when I left, bellman tried pushing the Harrah's shuttle for only $7 a person. Insisted on a taxi and the bellman apologized---"Sorry, we're told to push the shuttle, Harrah's owns it." Taxi came out to the same price per person. I left with the feeling that they are trying to squeeze all they can out of their guests, and I didn't like it.

Classic room was dated with old furniture and facilities. Not the cleanest place. But the location was great, just in the middle of the Strip. Better low-budget choice compared to the Stratosphere which is a far walk to the Strip. No breakfast, no free WiFi but free parking and no resort fee. Good for a short, budget stay in Vegas if you don't intend to spend your time in the room.

... and have never been disappointed. The rooms range from average to awesome and what you get usually depends on where you stand in Harrah's "Total Rewards" system. Unfortunately, the old days when you got to know the dealers and pit bosses and they could "comp" everything from a meal to a room are long gone. Now everything is computerized, impersonal, and boring, but the dealers will smile and joke with you as they take your money.

Harrah's is a casino, first and foremost, but they also run a very nice hotel that boasts several very good restaurants. Something I learned that you have to watch out for is someone based in Vancouver, BC is running a "rouge" WiFi system that you will think is Harrah's, but it isn't. By the time I found that out, it had cost me $10 plus a "foreign transaction fee" because they bill out of Canada.

I stop here because it's a convenient location between my home in Texas and business interests in Northern Nevada. Las Vegas can be a very expensive "vacation destination."

Room Tip: Rooms with higher numbers are located further from the elevators and are quieter.

I was at a convention in Vegas, decided not to stay at the convention hotel. The Vegas strip is huge and Harrahs is right in the middle, perfect for me. The hotel is older compared to the fancy newer hotels. I dont need the most luxurious, and this hotel was great value for the money. Location was by far its greatest virtue. The hotel has a few restaurants and a nice pool. Would recommend it to anyone that doesnt need 5 stars.

This hotel is 'in the action' on the Las Vegas strip. I stayed here because it was free (we were comped 4 nights), but I was pleasantly surprised by the room. We were never in the room because we were out all day and night, so we didn't really care what the room was like. Essentially, we were just looking for a clean room on the strip and this room fit the bill!
