Encore At Wynn Las Vegas

Reviewed March 26, 2014

This was our fourth visit to the Wynn and Encore in 2 years. Excellent in every respect which is why we keep going back. This time we hired a car with Hertz for the whole week. Visiting the Grand Canyon, Death Valley, Red Rock Canyon and Fire Valley were great experiences as was shopping and dining at Crystals

Room Tip: Choose a high room with panoramic views

... and it did not disappoint! Upon arrival, We were upgraded to a King suite on the executive level. We were greeted with a welcome basket with fresh fruit, chocolates and champagne. Amazing view of the mountains, (much less noise than a strip facing room). The room was amazingly comfortably and all amenities were second to none - what we have come to expect from Steve Wynn. We reserved a private poolside cabana for the day and our service once again, went above and beyond. Highly recommend for a true "Vegas" experience.

Stayed at the Encore for 5 nights in March and loved every minute. Check in was fast and efficient and we were offered a small bottle of water while we waited. We were upgraded to a panoramic suite with a great view of the strip and the rest of LV. The room was spacious and comfortable and most importantly clean. The bed was very comfortable and we slept very well. All the staff we had interactions with we're both friendly and professional. As has been stated in other reviews we did hear the bass from XS nightclub on occasion but it was barely noticeable and you'd have to be a very light sleeper for it to bother you. Enjoyed the hotel and the restaurants very much and would stay here again.

I will preface this review by telling you this was my first trip to Vegas, and I went more on a "check it off the list" basis than any real desire to "do" Vegas. I am clearly not a Vegas guy. We did one walk up and down the Strip and that was enough to basically keep me in the hotel the rest of our 4 days there. Fortunately, we were staying at the Encore.

This is a great hotel. Compared to the rest of the madness that is the Las Vegas Strip, it is an oasis of peace and calm. Honestly, I spent most of my time there poolside - a delightful experience. The room (a 2-bed queen suite) was very spacious with a spectacular view (we were on the 56th floor). Everything is first rate. Only mild complaint is the shower head is an old school Speakman that is mounted about 6" too low.

I was surprised to find out that the Strip has been transformed into one giant shopping mall (the last time I was in Las Vegas was 1978). The Wynn/Encore's version of that is quite pleasant with plenty of eye candy - Chanel, Hermes, etc. - and with prices high enough to keep me from being tempted to spend any money.

There are a plethora of restaurant options to keep your meals varied. And the Lobby Bar at the Encore was a very pleasant option, especially for morning coffee. It is located right at the elevators, and with no coffee maker in the room, it was a savior.

Lastly, the casino at the Encore is by far the most low-key option for gambling that I saw in our limited wanderings. If the word "elegant" can be applied to any casino, this is the one.

Las Vegas is now checked off my list. I have no desire to head back. I will, however, miss the Encore. Great hotel.

Room Tip: The higher the better.

I had a blast from the moment that I checked in. Room was more than what i expected. Services are amazing, nothing that you can't do with friendly and outgoing assistance . Good crowd and entertainment under one roof clubs have a wonderful reputation . Dealers were excellent in table games, both patient and informative to any questions before or during gameplay. New games fun.

We recently stayed for 4 nights in a King Suite at the Encore. This is actually our 2nd time to stay at the Encore and our 5th time to stay at the Wynn. We chose the Encore again because pound for pound this is probably your best option in Vegas. The hotel sits in a perfect location on the strip and is certainly one of the most appealing hotels to look at. The room is generally very clean, modern, and comfortable. We did, however, have a couple of problems in the room. The shower was not draining at all but they were fairly quick to repair it once we reported the problem. We also had an issue with a few of the random electrical outlets not working. These kinds of things are small but they don't go unnoticed and are things that just don't happen at 5 star resorts/hotels.

My only other issue with the rooms is associated with the Resort Fee and all that is included in that fee. First, the WI-FI is awful, and to charge for it is worse. 2nd, the Encore should consider including a couple of bottles of water in that fee. This is Vegas. It is hot and dry. No I will not pay $8 for a bottle of in-room water, and no I will not pay $25 to use the in-room refrigerator for my personal use. Don't nickle and dime your customers to death.

The sportsbook is one of the nicest in Vegas. I do not understand the drink ticket system though. $300 in bets = 1 drink ticket. People playing the slots have drinks constantly coming to them but in the book you've got to be making many large wagers to get a drink. Just weird and another place you feel nickle and dimed.

Finally, I must mention the staff. Some are great, welcoming, smiling, fun people. Those are the kinds of people that I want working in the Casino/Hotel promoting a fun environment for my customers. Unfortunately these are generally the exception rather than the rule. Most of the staff are all business and don't have the desire or ability to be really friendly. I always appreciate a professional and business-like attitude when I'm at work, but I don't want to feel like I'm at work when I'm on vacation.

All in all it doesn't get much better in Vegas (I've stayed at most of them), but the Encore could definitely improve in some areas.

Room Tip: Request a room away from the elevators or else you can hear them working at all hours!
