“Vegas Is Vegas”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2013

I have recently come back from the states. I had booked a pyramid Room, Upon Arrival the receptionists made us chuckle, and we made her laugh too. She UPGRADED our room to Player Deluxe Room. So we were very Pleased. I couldn't fault this hotel at all. Friendly upon arrival, Offering the best service and going out of there way to tell us where we should visit What Shows to see. Im not much of a gambler but the other half likes a few machines and he felt it was modern in the casino. I wasn't bothered about the Smoke. People aren't exactly blowing it in your face they still move away from people and children unless at a machine But VEGAS IS VEGAS its EXPECTED !! As for cleanliness. My Room was Clean Same Time Every Day !!! And I always saw the maid service bustling around to clean and make sure we were comfortable. The Situation of the hotel was perfect if you want a nights sleep but close enough for you to get places with the monorail and bus. I cannot comment on the food as we did not eat in. TAXI'SOUTSIDE were ready and CHEAP!!! and talking about CHEAP the Spa was cheap I booked an appointment to get my nails done and they were $40 The same price as other cities we visited so cheap for a HOTEL SPA.

We stayed on the 22ND Fl in a suites that was much like an apartment.
The staff was professional, friendly, polite & helpful everyday.
Each restaurant was affordable, the menu items were great
The Pyramid Cafe is one of our favorite places
to dine but the hours have been modified, excluding dinner which sucks but we were able to eat breakfast and/or lunch a few times.
The entertainment venue was affordable & highly recommended. We caught the Jabbawockeez which was so much more than expected. Such a great show that we wanted to stay for more!

Room Tip: Best room ever - extremely professional pleasant staff. Each time that we visit is a better stay tha...

My wife and I stayed here for one night on our way to Texas. We've been to Vegas many times and try to stay somewhere new each time. Last year we stayed at Encore. Well there is no comparison, so I will try to be fair on the review. I got an M Life rate if $39, which can't be beat. Checkin was a breeze. We got upgrades from a pyramid queen to a deluxe tower room on the 19th floor with a strip view. The east tower took forever to walk to the elevators. The interior hallways and flooring need updating. Rooms need updating. Beds were comfortable. Shower was nice with standing shower and separate tub. Walls were super thin and we heard the folks next door from 4:30 am til 6:00 have whoopi it was so loud! The restaurants and casino areas are all nice. Pool area was nice too.

We stayed in the Tower Premier Suite for a week and from the beginning to the end of our trip we were made to feel special and appreciated. The staff -in particular Kim at reception - went out of their way to make our stay as great as possible.

Our rooms were huge and very modern, with spectacular views over the strip.

The exterior of the hotel is definitely one of the most impressive on the strip and the facilities within are extensive.

The restaurants ranged from fairly expensive to average and the food was consistently good throughout.

The casino was fairly big and had a wide variety of games.

The pool area was good and the only downside is that the pool water looked quite dirty with the amount of bodies in it trying to escape the 120F heat.

Overall a fantastic experience and one of the better hotel stays I've had.

We had stayed at this hotel years ago. We got a good deal on the room rate, and we wanted to show our kids, so we booked a night here. It was impressive at first glance as usual, but the details were a bit disappointing. The pools are not up to par for ultra luxurious hotels in Vegas - very plain with few features to distinguish them from any hotel pool. We remember how good the "In Search of the Obelisk" motion ride was, but it has been removed in favor of attractions not in the theme of the hotel. Our room was in the original pyramid (not the separate tower) and was typical of any decent hotel except for the slanting windows. Being on only the fifth floor, we could not look down into the interior of the pyramid from our hallway like the rooms on the higher floors. (We went up higher to show the kids.) The one positive was breakfast at The Pyramid Cafe. They may not have control of this, but one other annoying thing was that the tram between the Excalibur and Mandalay Bay does not stop at the Luxor on its southbound trip. Not sure why. Overall, it's still an interesting place to stay, but for sure better hotels can be had in town for a similar price.

Room Tip: Get a room with a view of the interior of the pyramid; the tower rooms are newer (if you value that...

How often can you say that you have actually slept inside a pyramid? Well at the Luxor you do exactly that - the hotel is one large pyramid - the elevator ride is a trip when you feel yourself going sideways! Check in process was long and the service was moderate. The room was comfortable, clean, and very well themed out to the point of pyramid shaped soaps. The beds were very comfortable. The shower was large enough for two but unfortunately they had a problem with the drainage, and I didn't enjoy standing in a puddle of water! The hotel had a lot of amenities and good restaurants and shops. I would stay here again.

Room Tip: Get a room on the front, so you can look out at the airport and the sphinx - lovely vistas.

Luxor is a very basic hotel relative to the other options available on the Strip.

It is a bit tired, with many vacant shops and not much activity. It definitely feels like a hotel that has passed its prime.

Pros:
- Room and facilities appeared clean.
- Lots of chairs at the pool and plenty of pool towels.
- Free gaming lessons in the casino and the dealers were all very friendly and willing to help you learn the various games.
- Decent size gym although there was a wait for cardio machines.
- Beds were comfortable.

Cons:
- Housekeeping forgot to leave us towels both days. 45 minutes plus some attitude when we asked for them to be brought up.
- Most of the staff looked like they thoroughly hated their jobs and didn't want to be there.
- No wifi. At all. In the whole hotel.
- Location is a pretty far hike from the action on the strip. Cab rides can be needed depending on the heat.
- Taxi stand is really disorganized- plan on a 10-15 minute wait for a cab even though there is a constant stream of them!

Tips:
- The sushi restaurant and the Tacos and Tequila restaurant are pretty good. Skip the rest.
- Avoid the timeshare folks - they have a desk across from check in and stand at entrance to casino.
- Get the mLife card. It's their loyalty program for the casino and you can earn free stuff for gambling.
- If you purchase any kind of package deal (meal credits, etc) be sure to bring proof. They did not have this information correct at check in.
