“Not a place I would stay at again.”
Reviewed August 14, 2011

We stayed here last week. Besides the fact the service desk was no help in trying to make your stay any easier, she didn't know anything about comps, she was not helpful in showing us where to go, and gave us a room facing the airport when I booked a room facing the strip. All in all the hotel was neat. I didn't like having to walk completely around the bldg just to get to the elevator and then walk around the bldg again to get to the room. One set of elevators per 6 floors. Got the take two buffet which was a bargin to eat all day, the food court was under construction so they had nathans hotdogs (9 bucks for 2 dogs and fries) but we walked to excaliber for theirs. Did see criss angels show, nice. And went horseback riding with wild west adventures, also highlight of the trip. I would go back but stay somewhere else closer to the action.

I have been to Las Vegas several times and have stayed at MGM, The Mirage, Mandalay Bay, and another one that has been replaced. Granted the Luxor is not as luxurious and I was not expecting it but the renovations seriously made our stay less then appealing. First of all, it is dark inside the building. Others give you the illusion of being outside even though you are not. This one also had a strong cigarette smoke smell. We did have a long wait to check in and check out. Not due to a large number of guests, but because so few desk attendants were working. Second, our room was located in an area that was almost impossible to reach due to the renovations. Our desk attendant, perhaps was new and unaware that that a huge section of the hotel was being renovated, told us to use the elevator furthest away, from the front desk, even drew it on a map (of course that meant a maze through the slot machines). Once we reached the 4th floor we had to walk all the way to the end of the hallway and found out the doors to our wing were locked. Back down to the casino, through the maze we went and tried another elevator, again locked doors on the 4th floor for our wing. Finally a very nice non-english speaking janitor suggested we try the ones right next to the FRONT DESK and thankfully we reached our room after 45 minutes of lugging our bags around. That is ridiculous! Why wouldn't the hotel put a sign up on the locked wing doors telling guests who needed to access that wing which elevator they needed to use? Simple solution!!! The room didn't have a view, but that was okay. The furniture however was chipped up in several places and the door looked like someone had used a crowbar to try and get in. Again, I wasn't expecting much. The pool area closed at 8pm and was very busy unless you wanted to pay extra for the VIP pool area that was practically empty. The other issue we had with the renovations was in the food court. Most of the places are shut down and unless we wanted frozen yogurt we were out of luck. Around 5am the alarm system went off every 15 seconds for what lasted at least 10 minutes telling guests that a problem had been detected and to stay tuned for further instructions. Finally it shut off and a We apologize for the inconvenience the problem has been resolved was announced. Not more then 30 minutes later, the alarm went off again. It didn't last as long before the "all clear" came on. On the plus side, our rate included 2 buffet meals per day, either breakfast or lunch. We opted for the breakfast and it was excellent. Plenty of choices, hot food was hot, fruit was chilled and fresh. I am rating this average only because the price we paid was less then $140 for 2 nights accommodations, 4 buffet meals including tax. If I had paid more I would not be happy. There are so many great choices in Las Vegas, sadly I don't think the Luxor is one of them.

This was a clean, comfortable hotel. Good deal for the $$. Buffet was excellent, Criss Angel show even better:) Would stay here again and recommend to family and friends!

The elevator was most exciting - going up and down on an angle,,,,,

Thanks Luxor staff!

When my boyfriend and I come to Vegas we actually come to relax, not party. We’re both old enough that we like to chill out, eat great food, do some shopping and lounge by the pool, along with re-visiting our favorite Vegas spots. We arrived at the Luxor around 10 pm, even though the check in line up was long it only took a few minutes to check in. While I initially booked a King non-smoking room, we were told upon check-in that the hotel was sold out and none were available, but that they would do their best to switch us to what we desired the next day once check-out was over and a bunch of folks left. The West Tower room we originally had was on a lower floor, with a view of the parking lot, and had the distinct smell of old smoke, but hey, I’m pretty easy going – so was willing to put up with it for one night on the assurance we’d get a different room the next day. Of course the loud frat boy yelling of “Wooooooo!” at 4 am was just more reminder that we needed a calmer area of the hotel.
After a quick breakfast at the Pyramid Café we went to the front counter and quickly got our room switched. We ended up in a King non-smoking room in the West Tower (rm 2118). A nice sized room, beautiful view of the mountains and the East tower directly in front of us, and a good view of the Excalibur. A nice comfy room for a 6 night stay. Also found the hotel gym descent, which we hit daily. While it wasn’t big there was plenty of newer cardio equipment and plenty of weights for my man. We even ran into Criss Angel one day while working out! After the gym we’d usually hit the pool, again no complaints, it’s nothing outlandishly landscaped or anything, but has more than enough cabanas and nice little spots for relaxing.
I’ve always liked the Luxor casino too, especially the blackjack – it’s pretty laid back and you can actually play for a while before your money goes into the hands of the house. And even though it’s at one end of the strip at $10 cab ride will easily take you to the centre of the strip, where all the action is. Overall as long as your expectations are realistic the Luxor is great.. It’s just small enough that it doesn’t take you ½ an hour to get out of it (unlike some of the other behemoths on the strip), or grab a snack in the food court, and it’s economical enough that you’re not tossing out $20 bucks every time you leave your room to grab a snack or a cup of coffee for two. We both enjoyed our week there, and have no qualms recommending it to those on a budget.

We recently visited Vegas from Australia, Luxor was great, service was good, good food, everyone always pleasant, it is down the far end of the Strip but hey there is a monorail and Buses all part of being a tourist. we enjoyed it and are thinking of going back again next year.

Our first time in Vegas and really pleased we chose the Luxor for our first time here, we stayed in a spa suite and loved it. Ignore some of the bad reviews on here we read them and prepared ourselves for the worst but there was no need, our room was impeccably clean all week although the staff at the desk were disinterested and had forgotten how to smile we found the Luxor great value for money and we would like to stay again at the luxor in a spa suite when we return to
Vegas. It's a little out the way from everything on the strip so I wouldn't recommend walking through Excalibur (joined to Luxor) to get there as it's a nightmare casino to navigate

The Luxor was a great hotel, i loved the elevators and how they went up at an angle. and they had great bars and nice clean fresh rooms. The pool was very nice as well but the price for a bottle of water was nuts. I also did not like the huge line to check in and out. While i did enjoy my stay i would definantley stay another vegas hotel
