The scenic drive at Red Rocks Canyon came highly recommended from friends and the drive and views didn't disappoint. You can stop at various points for great photo ops and for hiking. The only disappointment was I didn't see any big horn sheep or any of the wild ponies I wasn't supposed to feed.

Only a few miles but a million years away from Vegas Strip!
You gotta see it even if you can only drive the loop road - if you can hike one or more of the trails so much the better. You might see petroglyphs and Big Horn Sheep - take the time as it's only about 30 minutes from Las Vegas.

It doesn't take long to get tired of the Vegas congestion and noise, so a 30-minute drive to Red Rock Canyon is just what you're looking for. We enjoyed driving through the park and it's amazing how the scenery changes in just a short time.

The Calicos trails are the mot popular, but if you are looking to get away from the crowds and test your agility, then head to the Ice Box trail.

It starts mildly enough but soon turns to boulder scrambling. It was quite challenging but so beautiful. There were families along the way with both young children and older adults. It is doable, but be sure to bring along water, snacks, etc ? We walked turtle-head the following day. That was more difficult, but we thought Ice Box was the most fun.

This was our fourth time here and we always love it. This time we saw big horn sheep on our hike. It's amazes me how many people have never heard about this place.
