“Very nice in theTower Rooms!”
Reviewed July 26, 2010

Stayed here for one night for a quick getaway. Previously, we had stayed at the Horseshu - I'm telling you right now, spend the extra $10 a night and reserve a Tower Room!

Free wifi, great view - we were on the 9th floor - clean comfy room and minutes from the casino. For the extra $10 we'll stay here again. We had a room with a king size bed and a plasma tv with several channels. We were gambling but did spend some time in the room. Room service is available as well and the prices were not outragious for most items.

Very clean, friendly staff, and good restaurants.

This is a fine place to stay to break a long trip. The rooms are clean, beds are fine, linen is nice. No hint of smoke in our room, which is a big deal to me. Free wifi, which was very nice. I don't gamble, so can't speak to casino experience. The restaurant has surprisingly good salads and sandwiches.

My wife and I did not stay in the hotel, however we did spend 6 to 7 hours in the casino. We found the overall attitude of the staff to be less than average. It seemed like the waitresses and other staff members did not like their jobs and were very rude, even after what I thought were generous tips, two drinks, $5.00 in tips. Their buffet prices, at $22.00 a meal are crazy!!

The thing that makes going to Cactus Petes fun is the way you get treated by the staff. Everyone speaks and says hello and the dealers and casino employees visit and treat you like your important instead of making you feel like they want you to hurry up and leave. The hotel is very up to date and clean. There are lots of activities even if you don't want to gamble and the hotel is very quiet and relaxing.

Stayed at Ameristar's Cactus Pete's on our way to Vegas & home to Saskatchewan. For $69/night, our room was suite-size & plushy, with a king bed, all the nice touches including ceramic coffee mugs & real glasses (we hate plastic & styrofoam). Meals were great in the Desert Room cafe & we had Pizza Hut late one night from the onsite snack bar. We heard from others that the Canyon Buffet was excellent, but never got around to it; the Plateau steak & seafood restaurant seemed a little pricey. The casino was spacious & the service was great in all areas. There are a few other casinos in town & not much else. Across the street is the Horseshu which is a sister property, different style & they have Mexican food, slightly cheaper rooms I think. We will definitely stop there again; for someone who just wants to gamble, spending a few days might suit them well.
