Location is what makes this Hyatt a great place as most other factors don't quite stand up to a typical Hyatt Regency property...

With lake tahoe at its doorstep, strolling by the lake makes this place a top hit, other than that, rooms are very average as is the service in general. ..

Good hotel if visiting the lake for couple of days.

The resort, lake, rooms, and pool are beautiful. The rooms are very nicely appointed. Beautiful decor, nice toiletries and wonderful view. The resort has several restaurants, ALL of which provide mediocre food and SLOW, SLOW, SLOW service. Housekeeping and valet services were great. Just be sure to visit the restaurants an hour or so before you're expecting to be hungry.

We stayed on the concierge floor. Room was better than average. View was no big deal. I couldnt get the shutters in the room to make the room totally dark. That was annoying. Casino had very poor air circulation and the smoke was killing me. I didnt find the dealers to be rude like others have said. The food at the concierge breakfast was amazing and the 2 ladies that worked the room were as sweet as can be. They had a great breakfast spread. The staff of the hotel was very friendly. They even gave us a smores pack to use at one of their fire pits. Overall I wouldnt go back because the location wasnt that great. But the hotel is very nice.

Room Tip: Stay on the concierge level

I was visiting the Hyatt for a business convention for 4 days. I’ll get right to the point, don’t come. We went to the casino and were floored by the behavior of their dealers. The dealers were downright rude, ignorant, and belligerent towards multiple players. They kicked patrons our and yelled at them for celebrating a win.

The Hyatt should be disgusted by this behavior by employees of theirs. They belittled multiple patrons, talked down to customers, and acted as if they were running a military camp. It obviously is something management tolerates since I witnessed it on different days, with different employees, and over different circumstances.

Also, the rooms (we were on the exec level) were not great. No bath tubs, a/c that didn’t work, two times we called to have our minibar unlocked (never did it), and the linens in the bathrooms look like they are from a motel 6.

The only bright side of this place was the location and the spa staff, but that doesn’t make up for the downright worst group of employees on a casino floor I have ever seen.

I stayed here one night on a business trip. The room had a view of the mountains and a kind of millwork (built in) couch at the window. It's very close to the lake and surrounded by trees. The car traffic nearby tends to be very light. Word of warning: beware of the altitude: it's over 6,200 ft (about 1,900 meters) above sea level. If you come from a lower elevation take a day to relax and don't go hiking right after you check in. Younger people may not feel it as much. Good news: this is a great place to relax.

Unlike most hotels this one had toothpaste (the one item I nearly always forget to pack) and all manner of soaps and shampoos, cotton balls and Q-Tips in the bathroom.

One of the staff explained to me that in Nevada people can own property right into the water, so you can not take a walk on along the shore of Lake Tahoe on the NV side unless you trespass. Good to know and also nice that the resort owns some lakeshore beach so you can sit in one of the lounge-chairs and read or enjoy the scenery or whatever you like. The picture for this review I took from the beach the resort owns.

All of the staff were enormously helpful. I experienced some confusion over parking and started driving the "wrong way" on a one-way lane inside the grounds. One of the valet parking guys very nicely, and very diplomatically explained my mistake and how to get to the proper parking lot. The staff were all very pleasant and answered all my questions clearly.

I stayed in the "hotel" part of the facility. It's huge. You can also stay in a kind of "bungalow" at the shore of the lake. The restaurant for this resort is at the lakeshore but there are also other places to eat within walking distance.

Because my stay was paid for in advance I can not evaluate this hotel in relation to cost. It does have a spa, sauna and several swimming pools of different sizes, although I did not swim in any of them or use any of the facilities. They have a small casino which includes all of the usual games (although I did not gamble): Blackjack, Craps, Roulette and slots.

Room Tip: The higher the floor, the better the view. Nice view on both sides. The higher the room the further...

Paid for the upgrade and experienced loud kereoke from a huge meeting out side our room. Noisy drunks. The hotel didn't seem to care. Never again will I subject myself to this abuse. For what they charge they should be ashamed.

Room Tip: Ask if they are hosting any partys

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
A spectacular setting on Lake Tahoe’s north shore with 500 feet of private, lakefront beach. Surrounded by towering pines and mountain greenery; 35 miles to Reno/Tahoe Int’l Airport; 40 miles to South Lake Tahoe Airport. Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort, Spa and Casino was recreated in the classic style of a 1920s alpine grand lodge. Exterior renovations of river rock and shingles complement the natural environment with colors echoing the tradition and sense of history of the original homes built in the Tahoe area. Extensive river rock landscaping and two outdoor fireplaces add to the guests' sense of arrival at the "Old Tahoe-Lodge" style entrance. The resort's Grand Lobby boasts crafted stonework, creating a cozy setting amid the warmth of an oversized double-sided fireplace, rich leather chairs and high-beam ceilings. The 421 guestrooms, including 24 lakeside cottages, have been decorated with natural pine, distressed wood, and leather furnishings, reflecting the setting with autumn colors of moss, brick red and wheat. Included in our Lake Tahoe resort's $60 million transformation was the addition of the Spa Terrace, a new three-story wing adjacent to the main 12-story hotel. Offering 138 luxury guestrooms with views of the Sierra Nevada skyline, the addition provides visitors with private balconies and breathtaking lake views. The Spa Terrace replaces the resort's former Aspen Terrace and overlooks the resort's new swimming pools. ... more   less
