“Not your typical Hyatt Resort”
Reviewed September 12, 2013

I agree with JakeSD, this hotel is not up to the Hyatt standard. The hotel is dark and heavy feeling. The rooms felt more like a motel instead of a hotel. We were here for a business meeting and the meeting food was not very good and had no seasoning. The pool area and beach area were very nice. I was surprised to learn the rooms had recently been renovated. The Villas by the beach area, cottages were in a nicer area but we were informed they are going to be renovated soon.
The gym was ok, no classes offered.
I did rent a bike for $15.00 an hour and enjoyed the ride along the bike path. The staff was also very nice.

Room Tip: pool view probably best choice. Higher floors better.

Got a great deal for a weekend through Priceline. The location, facilites, and staff were all 1st rate. Awesome views, great energy from the included valet parking to the poolside bar service. Only a few negatives to share - the room windows looked like they hadn't been cleaned in years (this was not just from the Yosemite smoke). The large pool is only 4' deep so finding a swimming lane around the wall to wall children was impossible. There is an 'adults only' spa but no one enforced it so it was filled with kids 90% of the time. The room itself was spotless, the grounds and landscaping fabulous. We tried breakfast once and would never go back. Took 20 minutes to even see a server, another 10 minutes to be served coffee which came with spoiled milk, 5 minutes to get that replaced with another coffee served with more spoiled milk. 3rd time was the charm and they had the nerve to charge me for 2 coffees! Breakfast was no better, cold and greasy. The saloon on the other hand was great, Anne our server was attentive without being in your face, the food was hot and tasty, the drinks cool and plentiful. Overall, the issues described didn't detract too much from the overall stay but still made the impession that improvement was possible.

I LOVE Hyatt. Read my other reviews So here’s the thing about the Hyatt Incline Village – they’re just not quite up to the Hyatt standard. Great example – this facility is significantly nicer than the Hyatt Grand Champions Indian Wells…yet the staff is so much better at Indian Wells, it’s an entirely superior experience there. The setting here…unparalleled in the US, simply gorgeous – however, compared to other high end Hyatt properties it falls well short. Service here is detached and disinterested – we had a pint of ice cream from the shop that was badly freezer burned – “take it back to the shop” – so dismissive and below the Hyatt standard. Hyatt Vendome in Paris would probably blow a gasket over something like this – here at Incline Village…whatever – sure you’ll work it out. Service in the high end restaurant – again, – so laissez faire - frustrating. C’mon! Shouldn’t you care about what you’re doing and what you represent? Anyway, these folks have a world class location and a world class facility and they’re blowing it. This is Hyatt – why should the guests be the only ones who get it?

Room Tip: Sorry, don't know yet - got here today and am hoping they make it right!

Great time. Very good service. Beautiful setting on Lake Tahoe. Sat on the beach in their beach chairs. Had lunch brought to us with drinks on the beach. Workout facilities were clean and many. Loved the pool entry from the building. It would be especially fun during the winter. I would definitely come back.

We spend three nice relaxing days at the main hotel. There is also an option to stay at a cottage or bungalow by the lake. The grounds are well kept and lovely. There are several pools and jacussi's, for adults and kids. And, of course, there is beautiful Lake Tahoe for those want to relax by and enjoy the lake. The hotel provided a scrumptious breakfast buffet and had a nice dinner selection at the restaurant.

I can't say enough amazing things about this resort! It's located right at the Heavenly gondola and next to many of the great restaurants in South Lake Tahoe. We had a suite with 2 bedrooms, living room, and kitchen. Our view overlooked the ice skating rink and center of all of the action. Our bed was sooooo comfortable that after a long day of skiing, once we laid down there was no getting up. There is a grocery store across the street so you can easily access necessities, alcohol and food even without a car. It's even only a mile or 2 from the casino's.

We stayed at this hotel in July, we choose this hotel because its property is on the beach. It was a nice hotel but a little over priced. I know Lake Tahoe is a more expensive place to travel so we expected it. The rooms were like most hotels rooms, pretty basic but clean. The inside of the hotel was very nice and the pool, spa area was very nice as well. The casino was good sized and we had a great time there. We enjoyed the dock for afternoon drinks and to take in the view. Its very convenient that is you wanted to go out on the boat they pick you up here. We went out on a catamaran and got a tour of the lake. Lake Tahoe is a beautiful lake it was just breath taking. There are also plenty of chairs on the beach. The water was a little chilly for my liking but rented a paddle board and made sure I didn't fall in. My only complaint would be the restaurant on the beach don't get me wrong they had excellent service, very nice restaurant and great food. But we went fishing and caught some fish and we took them to the restaurant for them to prepare for us for dinner. They did an excellent job but charged $35.00 per person to prepare our fish and it came with one side each and rolls. We thought that was a little high, but like I said we figured on spending more at Tahoe. Overall we really enjoyed this property as all the staff were extremely nice and it was a very nice hotel. We would stay here again.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
A spectacular setting on Lake Tahoe’s north shore with 500 feet of private, lakefront beach. Surrounded by towering pines and mountain greenery; 35 miles to Reno/Tahoe Int’l Airport; 40 miles to South Lake Tahoe Airport. Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort, Spa and Casino was recreated in the classic style of a 1920s alpine grand lodge. Exterior renovations of river rock and shingles complement the natural environment with colors echoing the tradition and sense of history of the original homes built in the Tahoe area. Extensive river rock landscaping and two outdoor fireplaces add to the guests' sense of arrival at the "Old Tahoe-Lodge" style entrance. The resort's Grand Lobby boasts crafted stonework, creating a cozy setting amid the warmth of an oversized double-sided fireplace, rich leather chairs and high-beam ceilings. The 421 guestrooms, including 24 lakeside cottages, have been decorated with natural pine, distressed wood, and leather furnishings, reflecting the setting with autumn colors of moss, brick red and wheat. Included in our Lake Tahoe resort's $60 million transformation was the addition of the Spa Terrace, a new three-story wing adjacent to the main 12-story hotel. Offering 138 luxury guestrooms with views of the Sierra Nevada skyline, the addition provides visitors with private balconies and breathtaking lake views. The Spa Terrace replaces the resort's former Aspen Terrace and overlooks the resort's new swimming pools. ... more   less
