“Go somewhere else”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2013 via mobile

I used to live in the Midwest, where they do awesome Tex-Mex, so the bar was high. Even in Virginia, where I live now, there are much better places to get Mexican. So here goes:

Pros: waitress was pretty good, portions are huge, prices are reasonable.

Cons: food was gross. I had enchiladas and an a la carte chile relleno. They were swimming in grease and the cheese had this weird slimy texture and slightly off flavor. Chile relleno was not breaded and fried, just stuffed with cheese. The cheese dip had the look and texture of Velveeta with Rotel mixed in. My husband's chimis were mushy.

MUCH better choices in or near Incline Village.

“Decent food, but not great”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2013

I had the chicken fajitas. The serving was large, but the chicken was cut very small and a bit overcooked. Chips were thin and light, but mainly in small pieces. Guacamole was good and tasted fresh. Salsa tasted like jar salsa. The interior was clean, but cluttered and not appealing to the eye. I've definitely had worse, but also had a lot better. If your expectations are not too high, it is not bad.

“Classic California Mexican”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2013

Perfectly decent place to chow down on Mexican basics. Watch for Tamale Tuesdays!

Wacky tropical jungle decor is fun, margaritas are good.

Be careful in the sloping parking lot during winter, it gets slippery!

“Great Happy Hour Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012

During my business trip to Incline, me and my associates wandered into this restaurant for some happy hour libations and food. The tacos and nachos were great. We had a good time watching football eating $2 tacos and $3 margaritas. I will be back to try dinner.

“Not the best experience”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2012

We have been eating at the Hacienda since the day it opened. It seems that every other visit it is good, with the other being not so good. Last month we tried again and the menu had hot sauce all over it. We told our server so she could clean it before it went back in the stack. She just gave us a "look" and put it right back where it came from. The service was very slow. There were not many customers and the staff was very lax. My burrito had so much pork fat that I had to send it back. They removed it from the bill. I wish the owner was there that night. This place has so much potential, however, the bad experiences are out weighing the good ones so we are no longer going to the Hacienda. Sad....
