Views, views and pretty good food. Oh yeah, how about the view. It's just a little hard to find without gps but well worth the side trip. Actually it's right down the way to the Ski Incline parking lot. This is a favorite of Incline locals who want to get away from the tourist hoards.

We were a little skeptical after reading some reviews but were very pleased with everything. They offer small portions of most dinners and we chose those. Adequate but a bit pricey.

During a recent trip to Tahoe, a friend recommended a sunset dinner at Big Water. We arrived early for our reservation, so we opted for a drink on the outside patio - dining was available outside with open seating. While the patio views were great, our outstanding waitress told us that our inside table had even a better view. She wasn't wrong as we were seated near the windows. The menu was solid - tried the ahi starter and the pork chop entree - both were winners. Some of the entrees have a small portion option which was welcomed by some in our party. Would definitely return and recommend highly - the sunset did not disappoint either.

We've eaten at some of the best restaurants in world, considering we live near NYC. We didn't expect much from Big Water Grille due to the fact that most places in Lake Tahoe serve flavorless food. Thankfully, Big Water Grille was fantastic! I had buffalo short ribs, which were so tender, no knife was needed! My husband had a smoked rib eye, and the quality of the meat was great, but he didn't like the smoke flavoring, it was too intense, unfortunately. The wait staff was great, and the place is beautiful. If we're ever in Lake Tahoe again, it's a place we'd visit again!

We had a birthday to celebrate and were lukewarm about going to our usual special-occasion eateries (Le Bistro/Eagle's Nest, etc.) and decided on the spur to try the Big Water Grille. Hadn't been to it in years because of our one experience, which probably had to do with the dinner mates, the dim lighting and tuxedoed waiter. It resulted in an unmemorable meal. This time it was early evening, it would stay light until 9, so there would be lots of light and views from the large picture windows. We were seated on the lower level, so we just had a woodsy view, not the beautiful Lake view, but that was fine because we see the Lake every day.
One of us decided to have a couple of apps for dinner, the other ordered the fresh fish special (halibut, I believe). Bread and butter were served with our drinks...unsalted butter (bleccht!), which does nothing to spring the tastebuds into alert mode. The crab cakes were attractive enough and tasty enough, but a little too compacted and dense to qualify as being worthy of a repeat order. I wouldn't say it had too much filler but it was either ground too fine or just overhandled, and there were no chunks of crabmeat. The sauce was good but a dab of tartar or aioli on the top would have taken it to another level of savory. We took the other crab cake home and doctored it up the next day with minced onion, celery, lemon pepper and mayo for yummy sandwiches.
The gnocchi and rock shrimp swimming in a cream sauce (which, by the way, looked nothing like the photo on this site), was beyond superb! It had us savoring and swooning with every bite. It was truly that good! I had loving thoughts about it for days after. The grilled fresh fish entree was melt-in-the-mouth outstanding and not at all like the usual grilled fish one gets in a restaurant (a slab that is flaky but of slightly dry texture). It was moist and delicate and absolutely delicious...in fact, everything on that plate was perfectly seasoned and wonderful.
We don't know if what we got is the usual quality of the food there, but the chef really out-did himself that day. Just writing this has me salivating...it's about time for a return visit...just have to overcome the idea of spending $70+ for a simple meal.
