My girlfriend and I went here for happy hour. They were having a special that they offer on Tuesdays. Not sure if it is an off season offer or year round. Wine was 1/2 price which is the price I think it should be anyway. $13 for a glass of wine is a bit steep considering it is a carefully measured portion in a huge wine glass so 1/2 price puts where (in my opnion) it should be priced all the time. The appetizers were $5. This is a good deal. We both had the butternut squash risotto and it was very good. The table we were were sitting at had low chairs so that makes the table a bit high. My friend and I were sitting across from each other and somewhat hunched over and leaning forward to each other in order to carry on a conversation. The server picked up (with one hand) and clanked the wine decanters right in our ears.
Then the server reached between us (over our heads) and put the silverware (wrapped in a cloth napkin) in between us whereas she could have just put it next to each of us. One of the servers and/or bartenders kept crashng the dishes behind the bar. Sounded like they were putting the bussed dishes in something but the noise was very loud and sounded like dishes broke. This was quite annoying and you could see other guests were annoyed by it as well. Many restaurants have that bad habit. Dishes should be cleared quietly. The live music entertainer arrived and had some set-up problems with some speaker noise feedback but hey, things happen! We did not stick around long enough to be able to say if we liked the music or not.
The view of Lake Tahoe is fantastic and this really is a nice place. I think for the money, the servers should be more attentive. I would go back here again. It really is a special place.

A friend and I were traveling on business to Reno and decided to drive up for the evening. At the time, we did not know that the main restaurant was not open - but at 4:00 PM, it was still light, about 70 degrees so we sat out on the lakeside lounge. The bar menu is exquisite with appetizers including calamari, and "exotic" cheese platter (which is what we had) and more. The service was impeccable. No sooner had I begun to ask for a wine recommendation - that Klinkerbrich (sp?) Syrah was suggested by out OUTSTANDING server. Beautiful location,
wonderful service, delightful food. Can't wait to go back.

When the renovations are done for the pricier part of this restaurant, connected to the Hyatt hotel across the street, you will have the ultimate place to take a sweetie and impress them with beautiful fare by a majestic setting. We were told the renovation would be done by mid-December, so we had to settle for the grill portion of the restaurant/bar at the Lone Eagle, but even then it made for a memorable 10-year anniversary celebration. The prices are a little high, but then you pay for a great view, impressive service and the knowledge that the whole experience will be classy.

Because we were eager to get there and secure a lakeside table, our arrival was timed for 4:30 on a Friday, after a day spent circling the lake. We chose to sit outside and enjoy the late afternoon sun. My back was up against their outdoor fire pit, so even though the temps had to be in the low 60s, I was pleasantly warm. Our nosh was a pair of sandwiches and two beers. Compared to where we live in the desert southwest, this grand scenery, done up by Mother Nature, is ALWAYS a welcome change for us. We like to refer to our trips to Reno as BALANCED...a day spent throwing pennies into the slots at the casinos, followed by breathing in the fresh air in Lake Tahoe.

P.S. Want a great place for breakfast? Try the OLD POST OFFICE CAFE on your loop around the lake. It just doesn't get any better in this neck of the woods.......Christine Jarmuz

loved this place, great view, beautiful surroundings, great chef. had never eaten sweetbreads & seeing as they were on the menu i asked the waiter if i could purchase just a tasting, he said he wd check but felt it wd not be a problem. (a sign of a first class restaurant) not only did the chef prepare a tasting he insisted it be on him & he delivered it himself to our table! i was very impressed & they were delicious!! a def "do again".
