“Could be much better”
Reviewed March 9, 2013

This ski resort has good potential but unfortunately it's not being met. Large areas of the resort are never groomed leaving them un-skiable for much of the season. With limited groomed terrain, skiers are all jammed together. It's best asset is the view from the top.

Check the conditions on our website to see an up to date listing of what is groomed when you plan to visit. The beginner runs, most of the intermediate, and a portion of the advanced trails are groomed each night. It varies based on the night and conditions but we do have a few areas that remain un-groomed due to the terrain.

“small but beautiful view from the top”
Reviewed March 7, 2013

i hadn't skiied here since probably the early 80's when it was ski incline. diamond peak is owned by the community, not by some large corporation. it is small so the runs over the course of the day doesn't allow for alot of variety. was there just before a snowstorm so there were some bare spots. absolutely stunning vista of the valley to the east and the lake to the west. sometimes the fog will cover the valley view. also due the great sun exposure this can make things slushy by the early afternoon if there has not been any recent snow.

Some things have changed, been remodeled, etc. but we are true to our roots of Ski Incline and the community, staff and guests at Diamond Peak really make it a friendly and fun atmosphere. Thanks for being a loyal customer and coming back after all these years!

“Some of the nicest staff I have ever encountered at a ski resort.”
Reviewed March 4, 2013

I am not an excellent skier and dont frequent too many ski resorts, however one thing that really stood out at this resort was how nice and attentive the staff were. From the person in the ticketing line helping to answer questions about options and packages to the instructors to the cooking staff and bar staff. Absolutely some of the nicest staff in general that I have ever encountered in a two day visit.

Great little resort and did not seem to busy when we were there. Lines were short and the prices were about what you see at other resorts.

“definitely for beginners”
Reviewed February 22, 2013

We took the shuttle from Hyatt hotel and was greeted by a friendly bus driver. Barely anybody with us in the bus on the way to the resort.

I was under the impression that ski clothes are available for rent and was surprised to find out it was not. Ended up buying snow bib pants. I was worried it is pricey in the shop but found out after checking in some sports/ski shops it was actually reasonable.

The person at the counter was very accommodating and helpful. Gave instructions and explained the mechanics of the equipment rental, lessons, etc very clearly. The guys at the ski rental area were very attentive.

The lessons took 2 hours and the instructor agreed to have one lesson for all my three children ages 22, 16 and 11. Normally, the 11 year old would have been with another group.

Food at the lodge was not that great and quite pricey.

A friend recommended a bigger resort in the other side of the lake but since we were staying in Hyatt, we did not want to travel another half to one hour to get to the resort. I'm glad I found Diamond Peak Ski Resort online. I think bigger resort are more for intermediate and advanced skiers. We like the fact the Diamond is not very crowded. Very family friendly indeed.

Also some great intermediate/advanced trails off Lakeview Quad and Crystal Express for when you are ready for those. Hope to see your family back here soon!

I received your other review and am sorry you had a bad experience during this past holiday weekend. Because Diamond Peak is a family resort, there are generally more kids/beginners during school breaks and we do our best to make everything run smoothly during these times. We have extra staff on hand to help with lifts, dining, rentals, tickets, lessons, etc. to prepare for this extra flow of traffic and we even make our staff park by the lake and take a shuttle to work. We have over 750 parking spots between the main lots and hillside that are within walking distance as well as a free shuttle that runs to overflow parking lots nearby and the Hyatt. The beginner terrain and lower lifts can get busy, but there is also some great low-intermediate, intermediate and advanced terrain accessible by the mid mountain lifts which hardly have lines. Our Ski School does get to cut lift lines (a benefit of taking lessons), but we have asked them to alternate groups, letting other guests go between groups. I hope this addresses your concerns with Diamond Peak and do hope you return and have a better experience.
