I have visited this restaurant many times. Always a favorite when i am in the Las Vegas area. The sushi is very fresh, preparation immaculate and attentive service. Actually this restaurant is better than many places on the coast where one would normally expect better Sushi. It is inside a hotel on Lake Las Vegas in Henderson. Every few years they rename the hotel (Hyatt, Loews). I think the latest is the Westin.

We ordered the Omakase 100, the chef's signature. It includes 5 tasting dishes, 3 cold and 2 hot. The cold ones were good, while the hot ones were poorly executed. First course, marinated raw tuna (onion and vinegar puree; not a fan of onions). Second, red snapper, "kanpachi", and yellow tail sashim (good). Third (hot dish), sliced wagyu beef, bite of lobster, and tuna on crispy cracker, very uninspiring, from undered seasoned to overpowering favor. Fourth, miso yaki seabass, overcooked, tasted more like swordfish than yummy seabass. Fifth, the best course, 4 piece nigiri with 3 piece of shrimp tempura roll topped with spicy tuna (excellent).

During my 4 night stay at the Westin Lake Las Vegas I ate my evening meal at the Marssa. The meals were a pleasure along with the attentitive service. From the Seared Duck, to the Snapper to the Colorado Lamb all were presented in a fashionable manner and proved substantial. A facility worth visiting.

5 stars??? really??? i have to offer my 2 cents as i was enticed by the gushing reviews here and on yelp. however my experience seems to be at a restaurant from an alternate universe. the sushi here is an unqualified mediocre. not bad, not great, yet pricey. all reviews focus on this master sushi chef, but frankly, i don't get it. i've had sushi from all types of places and i can honestly say that dollar for dollar is ranks in the bottom 10 percentile. the hot entrees are very good, but again, dollar for dollar, only an average value. they charge a premium here for the food, so you would expect that the service was overwhelming. it was not. slow and inattentive is the best description, so it's unclear what i was paying for. overall this was a 1 star experience.
