Despite the trouble at another location, I enjoyed Firefly Tapas & Kitchen Bar on Eastern Ave in Henderson. I have been there a couple of times and found the tapas/food to be very good, as well as the Sangria. I plan to go back again. Haven't really found a tapa that I haven't enjoyed so far.

Shortly after our first bad review for Trip Advisor concerning Firefly Restaurant's Henderson location, and feeling sick after our visit ourselves, we were astonished to see Firefly Restaurant plastered all over our local Las Vegas television news stations and articles all over our Las Vegas Review Journal newspaper concerning the closing of one of the Firefly restaurants (Paradise location) due to over 300 people contracting FOOD POISONING. We believe the readers of Trip Advisor have the right to know this especially if they are NOT from Las Vegas and maybe didn't see the national news stating what happened (which national news indeed picked up and televised). Feel free to Google these incidents to verify and we will now detail further information from writer Paul Harasim's article in The Las Vegas Review Journal newspaper as follows: "Owner John Simmons Paradise Road Firefly Restaurant was closed by the Southern Nevada Health District on April 26, 2013 because of food poisoning that has now sickened 300 people. His Paradise eatery was closed (authorities also shut it down in 2011). Health District inspectors gave owner John Simmons a list of 44 reasons why his restaurant was unsafe, including: several food items measured at unsafe temperatures; faulty storage equipment; employees handling ready-to-eat foods with bare hands; a sanitizer bucket stored next to open food; insects prevalent in the kitchen; substances stored in a way that allowed liquid to drip into open containers of food. After authorities cited the Paradise location with 44 demerits...epidemiologists recently found salmonella there in cooked sausage...the Sahara location also received 30 demerits...so these restaurants are far from a pristine operation. " In 2012 owner Simmons had Willie Degel, host of the Food Network problem solving show "Restaurant Stakeout" at his Sahara restaurant. Degal found many difficulties, the show made the restaurant look bad to millions. In a review of the show for Gather.com, a website read by millions, Diane Zoller-Ciatto noted: "John Simmons is just too nice and now his business is suffering." BEWARE to all food patrons! Don't risk eating at a restaurant that has clearly gotten so many patrons sick, many filing lawsuits. There are more than enough wonderful Las Vegas restaurants to choose from...steer clear from this troubled eatery! Read everything for yourself online if you have any questions about our posting. It's not worth getting sick. The food may have "tasted good" to the numerous people that posted wonderful reviews of these restaurants but the back of the house in the kitchen areas are the most important part of a restaurant and unfortunately the patrons do NOT see what goes on in the kitchens.

Food is excellent. Lots of tapas to choose from and all fresh and served hot. First time at this location. Downtown was a little warmer atmosphere. Fun experience. Firefly: please come to Michigan!!

We have been there twice in recent months and the food was excellent both in terms of variety and value. Serving both hot and cold tapas dishes ranging from the traditional Spanish tastes to Asian fusion adventures for the palate. We sampled both varieties and found them equally appealing. The wine list is good and offers some reasonable choices for under $30 as well as better wines at higher prices. Something for everyone. It is too bad the outside seating is so small (4 small tables) because the view is a good one of the city lights. Inside seating is fine, especially if you get a table in the front which overlooks the nearby hills. Remember tapas are for sharing so just order up some plates to get started and then order more when you are ready. Try the traditional Spanish meatballs in tomato sauce. The sauce is sooo good you'll have to ask for more bread to get every last drop!

First and foremost, the kitchen really knows how to turn out great tapas...both for quality of ingredients and value for what you spend....just exceptional!! I am downgrading Firefly one star for the noise and setup of the restaurant...while not their fault entirely (this is a pretty useless property that has had multiple restaurants come and go), they could have spent a little more time and money dealing with the interior (they did move the bathroom from the kitchen to the bar area). I realize that they need maximum tables and turnover to make $$$...they have a lot of staff and the service is exceptional....but, they could raise the price points and knock out some tables to create a more "tapas friendly-conversation friendly" atmosphere. CONSEQUENTLY...go for the 3-6pm Happy Hour when it's less crowded AND....they have outstanding wines at half-price by the glass. Overall, a real winner!!
