“Nice getaway hotel”

Huge hotel with decent restaurants and shopping nearby. Fabulous pool with cabanas and a sandy beach. Not too close the strip, which for us was great, but close enough to head in if you want to. We've stayed twice -- the first time the pool was freezing and the second time it was fine.

An enormously huge hotel-casino-shopping-conference complex just outside Las Vegas.

Positives: The rooms are huge and well appointed. The pool and pool deck are lovely. The gym is one of the nicest hotel gyms I've ever seen, with great equipment (and lots of it) and beautiful desert views.

Negatives: As a destination resort, when you stay here, you really don't leave the property. You therefore take all your meals in the hotel complex's restaurants, and that's were it gets miserable. All of the restaurants are spread around the casino, and you have to go through the casino to get to them. The casino is DISGUSTING with cigarette smoke and miserable-looking people pumping money into slot machines, and it's so huge that it takes a good 5 minutes (5 asphyxiating minutes) to get through the casino from the hotel wing to the restaurant area. The smoke wafts into most of the restaurants.

Also, the hotel screwed up my bill and some of my colleagues' bills and took a long time to fix it. When you call the hotel, your call is handled in India or the Philippines or Guam or somewhere like that.

I was forewarned that this hotel had been sent out to pasture and was in a decaying state...wow was that wrong! I was pleasantly surprised to find tastefully decorated rooms (reminded me a bit of the Four Seasons), nicely appointed lobby, beautiful pool and spacious property. Even the casino was classy (as much as a casino can be, anyhow). Very clean, and absolutely beautiful.

Best of all - free internet throughout the property!!! I love it when you can pay $200 a night for a room and NOT be nickle & dimed.

The main drawback, of course, is that it's 20 mins from all the action on the strip. But there is a free shuttle. And the hotel has solid restaurants, friendly staff, a large movie theater, and is next to a wonderful outdoor mall that makes nice strolling & shopping (and has tons of dining options).

The resort is very spacious and it can be a trek from the lobby to your room. It can also be a little confusing trying to get from your room to the rest of the resort if you are in the East wing. Lots of halls, doors to navigate. But that's ok because the large group we were in had a great time. The buffet meals they provided were excellent. Our meeting went well and there was plenty to do in our spare time. The pool is lovely, shopping in The District was fun.Very relaxing time..

Although it is slightly removed from the strip, the Green Valley Ranch was extremely enjoyable. The casinos were fun and there was a large variety of food. The pools were full of life and extremely enjoyable for the whole family. I loved the rooms, they were very comfortable. There wasn't much touch with the hotel staff, but otherwise it was a very enjoyable stay.

This was our second stay at this hotel.
What I liked:
-They upgraded us to a suite near check-in counter on ground floor. It had an outdoor patio overlooking the pool. It was very nice. Upon arrival we were told our room was gone (even though we called ahead and told them we would be arriving late)
- closeness to the shops, restaurants and theaters (gave the teens something to do)
-Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf inside along with some other fast food places (Parent friendly and kid friendly)
-valet parking and very nice attendants.
-wi-fi
-being away from the craziness of the strip

What I didn't like:
-The bed was terrible (we had a MUCH more comfy bed at the Hampton Inn nearby)
-The slot machines are very tight! When you walk around...no one seems to be winning anything!
-The friendliness at the front desk is just OK and slow..but getting a roll-a-way bed to your room much slower..An 1 1/2 hours and 3 phone calls later, it arrived at 12:30 am..Yes.. I meant A.M.!
-condoms etc for purchase in the mini bar along with the candy bars etc..Lol..Explain that to your kids!
-You can get lost in the corridors of this sprawled out hotel.
-The little eateries inside hotel would not accept our meal credits..(like Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf)
-I played slots for 3 hours and not one attendant offered me a drink!

I will go back again but only when deep discounts are offered on their website because there are no perks, winnings or attentiveness given to justify paying full price.

My husband and I had decided that our stay in Vegas would be "off strip" because we thought it would be the "spa like " experience that Green Valley Ranch has immersed in their promos. NOT!! We were place in the East Tower with the families with children and the "4 to a room" hip hop playing party boys.

The front desk employees informed us that they weren't "set up" to place people according to each situation ( oh sure I'm paid in full and you really don't give a hoot). So ~~~~~~~~ I guess instead of a nice romantic getaway I'm going to put on " mouse ears" and pretend that I'm in Disneyland.

They need some front desk employees that have a desire to be in the hotel industry ( not those with ho hum attitudes ) .

There are just too many great Vegas Hotels/ Spas and Green Valley Ranch disappointed us. We will never go back ~ first impressions do count. They willingly took our money but didn't deliver what they promise in their adwork. In today's economy you would think that the powers that be would care~~~~~~~~~
