When we go to Las Vegas every year, we look in the outlying areas to try out some of the local
casios for a change of pace. This past year we went to several in Henderson and had a great
time. One of our best finds was the Emerald Island Casino that advertises as "the only all penny
casino." When we first entered the casino we met Lisa, one of the managers, who started
talking with us like we were old friends. She fixed us up with a casino card, a half-price meal, and
came by to check on us periodically. We've never experienced this type of friendly service any
place else. What we also appreciated was the fact that she was also from Texas and worked
with her husband in several other casinos before coming to the Emerald Isle.
This is a small local casino, but emphasizes making everyone seem welcome. We definitely will
be making another trip to Henderson the next time we go to Vegas to visit with Lisa and playing
the penny slots and enjoying their small, but very good restaurant. The only negative thing we
found was the fact that it was too smokey--much needed vents! Everything else was A+.
