We checked in and dropped off our bags. The room had a jaw dropping view. We had a fantastic dinner - service was excellent! We had a drink at the bar great ambiance - service was ok. Then we went back to the room, and there they were. We were told that they were mosquitos due to being close to the lake. We called the concierge and they sent up house keeping to vacuum the bugs up off the ceiling. No luck still there. We asked to be moved and they stated that they were booked up. WHAT! They then offered us a "hospitality room" which is really an open room and they would bring in roll away beds - Seriously! NO. They finally moved us to a double bed room and now an hour later we may finally get to go to sleep. My husband and I will have sleep in separate beds - a full size bed is not comfortable for two grown up adults.

After 3 nights in Las Vegas on the strip, 3 nights in Zion National Park, we stayed one night at the Westin to break up the drive back to L.A.
The staff at the hotel was friendly but were disappointed by a few things:
1- the beach was closed for maintenance for both days of our stay. This was extremely disappointing as this was one of the main reasons we came, no message ahead of time and no alternative offered (i.e. to use the Hilton's beach down the road).
The head lifeguard at the pool opened the water slide especially for us when she saw our disappointment (it was raining and flash floods and it seemed like they were not planning on opening up the slide again that day), and she gave us a cabana the next day at no charge. This was because she was incredibly nice and had an outstanding sense of service.

2- I ordered the room for 4 people through Expedia and paid more for including breakfast, and upon check in was handed a voucher for breakfast for 2 people. I showed the staff member my confirmation from Expedia that breakfast was included for 4 and he gave me a voucher for 2 more people but explained that there is a problem between the hotel and Expedia and that breakfast is actually not included for more than 2 people. He also said that this happens all the time. I still don't really understand that, to his credit he did not argue with me but if it happens all the time they should figure out how to deal with it.

The room was spacious, comfortable, all of the hotel staff that we met were very gracious. Was the perfect choice for breaking up the drive.

While we were happy to read that you enjoyed a comfortable stay and were pleased with the excellent service you received from our staff, we wish we could have impressed you at every turn. It is unfortunate that our lake area was closed due to inclement weather during your visit and we regret that you were unable to enjoy some of the fun amenities we offer, like kayaking. I’m also sorry to hear that you encountered a setback with your reservation booked through a third-party site, however, it’s wonderful to know that our team was able to provide you with a solution that met with your complete satisfaction. We thank you for choosing the Westin Lake Las Vegas Resort & Spa and hope to welcome you back in the future so we can truly win you over. Thank you!

The hotel has a lot of positives:
- attractive location next to a lake and well maintained grounds
- 2 large swimming pools (1 with slide)
- close to Lake Mead NP and reasonably convenient for Hoover Dam
- decent sized rooms

On the negatives:
- building work was going on whilst we were there but it was quiet and unobtrusive
- a 30 min drive from Vegas Strip so not ideal if you want to be in downtown regularly
- we were there on Sunday night and there were limited food options and a long wait for a table at the one restaurant open

Overall an attractive hotel and a decent choice if you don't want to spend much time in Downtown.

Lake Las Vegas is 20-30 minutes away from Las Vegas proper, so not really an option for Vegas, but if you are having road trip, this is credible option. We stayed there last night before flight out of Las Vegas airport, and because we already have been to Vegas we decided to try something more relaxed far from the crowd.

We've booked junior suite and although I am SPG Platinum member that's what we've got. So it was just large room with separate sleeping and sitting areas. Check in took forever as there was only one check-in agent that seemed intent to tell person in front of me entire history of the hotel and surrounding area (so this one used to be Hyatt before being rebranded to Westin) - human touch and being talkative is nothing bad, unless there are other people waiting.

Views of the lake and from the room were very good, we didn't use breakfast as we were leaving quite early - no breakfast bag or any equivalent was offered. I am not sure if there is an elite lounge as check-in person didn't mention anything about it.

There is large (free) self-park facility in front of the hotel. Internet was reasonably fast.
Overall a good road trip stop but I would not make it a destination.

The resort is beautiful. The view is amazing right on the lake. The rooms were very nice as were the two large pools. The food was very good and restaurants and bars were nice with wonderful staff. The Valet / Bellman employees were the nicest I've seen anywhere especially the one named Eric. They helped with suggestions, cars , what to do, and with a smile. The resort is secluded but close enough to get to the Vegas strip and Hoover Dam and The Grand Canyon. Rental car on the premises was awesome. Great place to stay.
