“Amazing, hidden surprise!”
Reviewed January 3, 2013

This place is unlike any place you have stayed near Vegas. Very Italian Renaissance. Amazing fitness center and the setting on the lake is gorgeous. The rooms are first class and you will have a most relaxed stay. Go the the bar and order a Desert Elixir So refreshing!

One downside - the whole area feels very slooooow! The little village nearby is nearly empty. More people need to go here before the whole place rolls up the sidewalks and leaves town. It's worth the trip and a great getaway. Plus - a tidy 35 minutes from the Strip in case you need to find a little action.

Enjoy while you can!

Room Tip: Anything pool or lakeside would be a good choice depending on what kind of mood you are in.

A beautiful hotel not too far from the Strip and Hoover Dam. Love the outside patio and the rich, warm colors of the hotel. Lovely view of the lake (for extra fun, go feed popcorn to the birds and fish!). Very helpful staff - especially the concierge (I think her name is Aileen), who gave us great advice about Hoover Dam and the Ethel M Chocolate Factory.

This place is a gem; the staff are amazing (especially Abdul in Rick's Cafe') and the grounds are impeccable.

Two huge heated pools, a beach with complimentary kayaks, paddleboats and other activities, a deli, a 4 star sushi restaurant, a nice lounge, and all with a Moroccan flavor that is very unusual in the US.

The rooms were large (we upgraded to a Jr Suite for $50/night more...with 2 kids this was perfect) and the lake is gorgeous. Near Thanksgiving, there is NO ONE HERE; we enjoyed the peace and quiet, away from the wackiness of the strip (which is a 15-20 minute drive...easy!) Hoover dam is 25 minutes away in the other direction. Don't miss it if you haven't done it before.

We will definitely visit the Westin Lake Las Vegas again. Absolutely no complaints.

Room Tip: Lake view is really nice, but are you going to look out the window all day? :-)

Only got to stay here one night, but this was a beautiful property. It is quiet & secluded. There were no signs of being near Las Vegas...not one slot machine in sight!!! The room was a little small & cramped but the furnishings were very upscale and the bedding & pillows were plush & comfy;-) The poolside area is my favorite and the firepit at night adds a romantic glow to the entire hotel;) Definetly worth the drive and a straight shot to Vegas...if you want to leave this tranquil paradise!

My wife and I stayed for a weekend at the Westin Lake Las Vegas after a long flight from London and left feeling very refreshed after 2 nights.

On check-in, we were given a free upgrade to a Lake View room. We had a beautiful view, but had to keep the patio door shut because of a stagnant smell from the docks below. There was also a bit of broken glass on the patio which housekeeping was kind enough to leave for us.

They were also nice enough to leave the alarm clock set for 6:30am, which was perfect because we were looking forward to jumping out of bed at the crack of dawn to run out on the patio and hopefully step on some glass!

On a more positive note, we loved the pool area and hot tub. Both of which were the perfect temperature. I can only imagine the $22/night resort fee goes to heating the large and beautiful pool year round.

The room itself was nice. Classic layout with a very, very comfortable bed.

Staff is also very friendly.

The best part of course is there is no casino. I can't stress how amazing it is to find a secluded resort near vegas with comfortable beds and none of the noise and smells of a casino.

All in all a great stay, and would have given 4 out of 5 if not for some glaring lack of attention to detail in the housekeeping department.

I will start with the pros: This hotel has amazing grounds that are amazing to explore. There are two swimming pools, which I did not use because of the time of the year. The one on the top floor looked cleaner and more well kept. The room was clean, spacious, and somewhat elegant. The lobby was nice. It offers a bar and techno music is played ALL DAY LONG. The staff was helpful, professional, and smiled. Now the cons: It is way too far away from anything, not just the strip. It's location is probably the best if you want to be away from the noise and people in the strip, but then again why go to Vegas, if it is not for the gambling and glamour of the strip. The food was awful and expensive. There was a sushi restaurant that we did not try, but apperantly it is the best in town and is often visited by celebrities. We dined at the Rick's Cafe and all I had was wine because the food did not look tasty at all. My partner ordered a soup, which was supper salty and gave him a tummy ache. My friend ordered a dessert composed of a cookie and ice cream, and she literally had to stab the cookie with the fork and knive as it was super hard. Not even the melting ice cream had an impact on the hardness of the cookie. The lake smells like sewage so asked for another room if you are anywhere near the lake area. The hotel will also charge you for a resort fee, which basically covers the free shuttle to the strip and some other amnemities that we did not use. If you miss the shuttle it is a $75 dollar ride to the strip. The nearest point of interest is almost 2 miles away, which is a small casino with a few restaurants that are OK to say the least. In conclusion, if you want an expensive and remote resort with mediocre food this is the place for you. If you want to have fun and still relax and not pay an arm and a leg for transportation that think about something closer to the strip. Oh yeah I thought about getting a massage, but I did not because they are so expensive that you have to decide, do you eat the rest of your trip or do you get an expensive massage. I chose to eat. In any event I dont usually go to Vegas for a massage.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the lake. If you are in a big group ask about upgrading to a suite.

What a great place away from the Las Vegas scene. You can take a short ride into the city for some shows and fun then come back and have a very relaxing time at the hotel. The serenity of the back patio as the sun rises or sets is spectacular. If you're into scenery in the comfort of a hotel then this is the place. See the picture from a morning shot at 7:10 a.m. of the patio.
And, buy the way, The Sushi Bar at Marssa was very nice and the Su-Chef was awesome! Here's the web address: http://www.westinlakelasvegas.com/index.html

Room Tip: Ask for a room that isn't overlooking the parking lot! Just sayin'
