The Westin Lake Las Vegas Resort & Spa
Ranked #10 of 25 Hotels in Henderson
Reviewed June 23, 2012

We stayed at this location because we were attending a dance convention with our daughter. The entire hotel is very clean, staff very friendly and the facilities were beautiful with two pools, lake and activities for kids. You are away from the strip but also way from Henderson by 8 miles. The two restaurants were fine, Ricks was good for breakfast where you can eat outside before it gets to hot, and Marssa is a high end sushi restaurant. Our only issue was on Tuesday night when the hotel was full with the convention, hungry kids and family, Ricks was closed! You could order in bar area to go but they were very picky about kids being in bar area and there were only small tables available to eat on. This was very inconvenient since we didn't have a car to drive somewhere for food.

We did have some slight housekeeping issues, coffee not getting refilled, rooms being cleaned really late in afternoon, but otherwise it was a great hotel. It was a very family friendly location away from the heart of Vegas.

We did rent a car through Enterprise in Henderson which came to hotel for pickup and delivery. For a day we were able to drive to Hoover Dam and explore Lake Mead National Park. The Lake Las Vegas area around the hotel has really been hit by the poor economy and the drive into area is surrounded by a bankrupt golf course that has gone unmaintained. Otherwise the area is very pretty.

I stayed at this stunning resort for 4 nights. On arrival I was kindly upgraded to a lake view room which was very nice. The sunrises and sunsets from the lake are just amazing.
Food was good in Rick's Cafe where I had a good American styled breakfast.
Room service food was quite limited but good portions sizes for the hungry person.
Swimming pools and facilities very good and very friendly staff in entire hotel.

Definitely worth another visit to this beautiful resort!

Our party wanted to take a breather on our trip before we headed into our final destination of Las Vegas on our recent trip so we decided on staying at the Westin Lake Las Vegas, and we were impressed on arrival. We were suprised that this hotel was not busy at all, which was a blessing for us. I'm not sure how long this hotel has been part of the Westin brand, but everything was up to the usual Westin quality. The only bad thing about this place was the "adults" pool was not open when we wanted to use it.

Room Tip: go the pool view!

This hotel is beautiful and the pool is amazing! My family and I really enjoyed the pool, water slide, and beach area. However, there are only a few umbrellas at the pool so, if possible, arrive to the pool early. We actually ended up renting a cabana for $50 for a half day and it was worth the money. Many of the Lake Las Vegas restaurants and hotels have closed, but we just stayed at the Westin and it was a wonderful stay! We also love all the kid-friendly events- the movies at the pool and the s’mores on the beach.

Our family of four (including 2 teenagers) arrived at the Westin after a 5 day camping trip and had planned to stay 2 nights but extended our visit to 3 nights. We arrived grubby and with a roof full of camping items that needed to be brought into the room and we were patiently assisted by the staff. The lobby is gorgeus and it faces out to the lake. The lobby is also very cozy with lots of comfortable seating and we ended up spending each of the early mornings enjoying our coffee looking out to the lake. Our room was also very comfortable and looked out onto the lake. It was picture postcard perfect; so much so that my daughter didn't want to leave the room! The pools are beautiful and I only hope they will get more umbrellas as shade was scarce. We walked the property and noted the clean up that was needed but truly, it is cosmetic and not major. This is currently a 3 star property in the SPG network but will certainly be upgraded to 5 star once Starwood has "Westin-ized" it. The property was originally built by Hyatt, later purchased by Lowes, and now owned by Westin as of this past March. Lake Las Vegas is a beautiful but financially troubled community. My guess is that Westin will be able to turn some of this around, including getting the golf course reopened. Westin has such a following in their network (including us) that I am confident this resort will flourish. It is a diamond in the rough (and not really that rough). They are already renovating the work out room and have converted all beds to heavenly beds. They offered complimentary water (which in the desert should always be a requirement). The staff was very helpful and friendly. This is a beautiful resort, has lovely restaurants, a great coffee shop and many activities for the active family, including boat rentals, putting green, playground, and 2 pools and a hot tub. We will definitely return as this offers everything we look for in a resort atmosphere.

We (husband, wife, 7 year old and 12 year old) spent 2 nights and 3 days at this resort. We choose it specifically for several reasons. First, we wanted to be away from the Strip -smoking, drinking and crowds. Second, we have stayed at other Westin Hotels and have really enjoyed their amenities. We arrived around 5 pm. We were immediately greeted by the Bell person and proceeded to Check in. Linda at the front desk was personable and answered our many questions. We requested and got a room with an actual patio that had two chairs and a little table. The room was very nice. My only observation was that the patio furniture was dirty. I called house keeping and within 10 minutes someone was there to clean it off for us. After having traveled four hours we were all anxious to get to the pools and try out the slide. The problem was that even though it was 6 pm, the pool areas and slide were closed. The only thing open to us was the lake. I went to the front desk and complained and we were given permission to use the pools -but not the slide. The next day we went down to the pools at 9 am (because the sign said that was the time they open) but the slide didn't open until 10. That was disappointing for the kids. When it finally opened we all gave it a try only to find out that there wasn't enough water volume to push us down. We had to scoot to the bottom. So much for a water "slide". We were very surprised by these things because we've stayed at the Westin in Rancho Mirage and they have a great slide and pool area. Upon check out we spoke to the Cole, the Front Office Manager and let him know that we were disappointed with our experience. He explained that the Westin had only acquired the property a few months ago and that they were in the process of updating the pools, gym and other areas. He apologized and encouraged us to give them a try in nine months. On a positive note, the property is beautiful. The pools are not crowded at all. It truly is a family resort.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that has a patio with chairs. We enjoyed sitting out in the morning and evening hour...
