Like the other reviews state, the motel has large, clean rooms and you get the feeling that your neighbor may ride up to his room and tie his horse to the hitching post. I spent a month here awhile ago while we overlaid the highway through town. We got to know the staff and I don't think you could find a more gracious, friendly bunch of people any where. The Santa Fe is a great base camp for exploring Goldfield. So take a couple days, walk down around to the other side of the building, belly up to the bar and immerse yourself in the history of Goldfield Nevada. You'll hear about the gold, the flood and the fire, but be careful and don't walk to close to the old four story hotel. Goldfield is a great living history lesson.

Room Tip: The room on the far right as you park is the closest to the bar

The Santa Fe is a nice local hotel, the rooms are big, have great Air/Heat unit, satellite TV, and very clean. I've stayed on two separate occasions and haven't been disappointed. The carpet is a little older, but clean....well worth the cost and convenience of staying in Goldfield!!

Room Tip: Rooms in the smaller building do not get the morning sun in the front windows.

traveling solo again. leaving phoenix at 6am gets me to goldfield by 2pm, when the motel opens. i had no reservation & had my choice of rooms, they accept plastic. they offer smoking & non-smoking rooms, the rooms are a little shabby but clean. the tv works fine, now that i know how to operate the remote, many channels. my only beef is that there are no phones in the rooms & my cheap GO phone has no signal out there. i went to the mini-mart on the main street to use their pay phone but the phone had been removed. the owners of the mini mart said that the phone company stated that it did not get enough use so it was removed & will not be back. the bartender at the santa fe saloon was kind enough to let me use her phone, (i had a calling card). i was too tired for a sit down meal so i bought some junk food at the mini-mart to eat in the room. i believe there is still a cafe on the main street, unsure if the northern hotel/restaurant is still in operation, last time i ate there it was upscale, delicious but a little pricey. had a couple cocktails at the sante fe saloon, the drink prices are cheap & the locals are friendly. i always feel safe. the motel is on the edge of town, very quiet at night.

I'm a retired guy who has passed through Goldfield several times over the years, and could never stay because there was no motel in town. So, as a serious amateur photographer, when this came up, I decided to stay and take a bunch of pictures in and around the town.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Many Internet sites list the address of this motel as 925 N. 5th Street - Yahoo, etc. - it is in fact 925 N. 5th Avenue and it's definitely not the same thing. If you're in town, though, you'll find it as there are several large signs directing you.

The "motel office" is in the Santa Fe Saloon, a 100+ year old bar (see picture attached) that's around the corner from but adjoining the motel and that's worth seeing in itself. Good check-in, and for $42 plus tax I got a large (clean!) room with two queens; in-unit handy thru-the-wall combo heat/AC unit like most newer motels; good TV; all the usual stuff; and very convenient parking right outside the door. The motel has eight rooms in two buildings: one with five units (see attached picture), one with three. The bed was better than average in comfort, and there were no unpleasant surprises. About the most unkind remark I could make about the unit was that the decor was on the dark side and not particularly attractive; but for a very clean and comfortable room at this price I feel it was a bargain and I'll be the last to complain.

Incidentally, I asked for a possible frig or microwave; not available in any rooms or for extra cost.

This facility makes it possible for tourists and others to stay in Goldfield in comfort at a reasonable price. Great! Final suggestion: during the summer, I'd strongly advise advance reservations like my own - they're the only game in town, and when I arrived at about 2:30 they were already full.

The "Hotel" is just some rooms built behind the saloon. The rooms are newer, clean and comfortable. The only down side is that there is only one place to eat in town and it closes at 7pm and the saloon closes at 8 pm.
