“Don't Settle”
Reviewed July 9, 2012

After driving by all the hotel options in Fernley (and after having opted out of the Reno option an hour earlier), we decided to try Comfort Suites for the first time. We were very impressed. The room was large and well appointed and the bed was one of the most comfortable I've ever been in.

We were in a room as far as possible from the train tracks and were wondering if we were having an earthquake the first time a train passed by. They shake the bed. But given there's no crossing nearby, they don't blast their horn near the hotel, so the effect is a little like the "magic fingers" bed vibrators. Not bad at all once you know what's happening.

If you intend to sleep in a bit in the morning, request a quiet room, however. Being directly over the lobby, across from the vending/ice machines and next to the door to the stairway wasn't the best for us. In addition, they put a family with four small children in the room next door. This would have been fine as the walls seem to be plenty thick, but in the morning the parents decided that letting the kids race up and down the stairs was a good plan. Not the hotel's fault. We should have just requested a more remote rooom.

Room Tip: North side is near tracks, but might be quieter.

What a pleasant surprise! The spacious room made us feel pampered! King bed, fridge, microwave, shower with HUGE tub, small sofa with coffee table, large flat screen TV, work desk with multiple outlet surge protector (including USB charging outlets). The breakfast included eggs and yogurt besides the waffles, cereal, juices, coffee, bread/rolls. (I always appreciate having some protein sources available.) We didn't get to use their pool and exercise facilities. Also, the Internet service was fast! For only $89 we couldn't believe what we got. Absolutely a great place to stay when you're near Reno or traveling from Yosemite.

We road trip quite often between Utah and northern California and Fernely is the most convenient place to stop as far as driving time goes. We trusted Trip Advisor reviews on this hotel and booked our first night a few weeks ago. What I found was unexpectedly EXCELLENT! First, the price, and discounts for military, are really excellent! I have 3 children, 3 and under, and I have never stayed in a hotel and awoke in the morning having had a FULL NIGHTS SLEEP!!! The room has three separate areas with little partial walls separating each. They brought in (with no extra cost) a portable crib with extra sheets for my 10 month old and I was able to place it by the bathroom behind one of those partial walls so that she felt like she was in her own separate room. Then, the area in the middle has a really nice full size pull out bed where I was able to put my other two. Once again, they felt like they were in their own room. The beds in the room are SO NICE!!! They give each bed about 6 pillows that have different amounts of firmness. The updated flat screen televisions are a nice added bonus. The windows have nice curtains that block out light in case you want to sleep in. The gorgeous updated bathrooms are really welcoming and accommodating. The hot breakfast is basic but perfect. We had our choice of eggs, sausages, waffles, pastries, bagels, hot cereal, and cold cereal. I could not have asked for more. Lastly, and to top it off, the staff is extraordinarily friendly and accommodating. I felt comfortable asking for anything that we needed. I just don't see staying anywhere else on our frequent road trips if we have a choice. Once again, I couldn't say more about this hotel.

We stayed here on our way home to split up the trip with our 15 month old. What a pleasant surprise it was to stay here at such a beautiful hotel. The beds were so comfortable and the rooms were spacious and very tastefully decorated. Very clean and fresh. Good location and friendly staff. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Highly recommend to other travelers.

The front desk lady was very kind. The room was Very clean and the beds were VERY comfortable. I would suggest taking a room furthest from the RR track however. We could still hear it somewhat.

We ate at a little taco stand in town that was Ahhhmazing! Yum! Take a left out of the hotel, then a right at the road. follow it into town and it is on the right side of the street. I forget the name, but it is a tiny place, no indoor seating.

Room Tip: Stay in the rooms furthest from the train tracks.

I've stayed here several times while visiting family nearby. The rooms are large, clean and well maintained. The beds were surprisingly comfortable, the included hot breakfast is simple, but welcome and the staff is friendly and helpful. There is a small indoor pool and an exercise room, as well. The location is excellent, just off of I-80.
