“Great room for price”

In a big city this room would cost 2-3 times as much. Big immaculate rooms nicely appointed. My only criticism is the air con. It works very well but is very loud. We had to choose between a warm stuffy but quiet room or a very cool but noisy room. Quiet air con would make this place first class

If you're staying at a hotel in Ely, chances are you've been driving for a while on Route 50 or Route 93 (I've hit Ely from both roads over the years). And chances are, you'll be tired.

Although I would normally stay at a Holiday Inn (I'm a Priority Club member), La Quinta was the best bet on a pet-friendly hotel. And it turned out we liked it. We especially liked the hot water spa in the pool room to rest our aching bones.

The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff was courteous, friendly, and helpful. The only real complaint I had was that the eggs at breakfast looked, felt, and tasted like yellow styrofoam. Nothing's perfect, I guess, and overall we enjoyed it.

This hotel is a pleasant surprise in the small town of Ely. The room was comfortable; there is a pool, business center, and exercise room - everything we could ask for. The free breakfast was the typical hotel fair of waffles and very little protein, but that is to be expected.

There is no restaurant but a grocery store is next door for any needed items. We had dinner at La Fiesta, across the road and down a couple blocks.

This is a very clean and beautiful hotel. We love that it is pet friendly. Contrary to a previous review, we found the pet rules (scoop your poop, no excessive barking, don't leave pets unattended, pets not allowed in dining or pool areas) to be reasonable and considerate of other guests. We found Sharon to be friendly and helpful, giving us weather and road condition information on checkout--as well as chatting about our trip.

Download a file? Each room has free wi-fi and there is a Business Center for those without laptops.

I have stayed at this hotel for several months from March to June 2011 on business. It is very good in almost every respect -- well run and maintained, with a nice staff. However, the internet service is terrible. If internet is critical to you then consider staying elsewhere or plan on being very frustrated. It is worse than the old days of dial-up, which is unacceptable in this modern age. Internet was fine when I arrived in March. But it went out almost entirely for a few days and, since about April, has never come back to a proper level. When the hotel is busy in the evening it is often virtually impossible to do a simple task like checking email or getting on Facebook. It's better in the a.m. when the system is less busy, but still very slow overall. I wrote a personal note to the manager and filed comments with the national La Quinta chain and did not even get the courtesy of a reply from either. I was away for about 3 weeks, just returned, and nothing has improved. My colleagues staying here have the same frustrations.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us your feedback. Unfortunately, in a remote area like Ely, goot internet service providers are hard to come by. I am very happy to report that we have purchased an individual 3.0 meg line just to service our internet needs. We have seen much improved speed on our internet lines and we are always trying hard to keep our guests satisfied here at La Quinta in Ely 8)

This is a tidy, well done, spacious hotel and I recommend it to all. The staff working on the evening of May 30, were hospitable, helpful and welcoming. But, the morning of May 31, all the good will from the evening before was shattered by the morning person, Sharon. When I asked for the kindness of having her download a business file from her internet connection because I was having trouble doing it, Sharon said, "No". (After we checked out, the Ramada next door happily downloaded my file and I gratefully gave that person a $20 gratuity). Then Sharon pounced on us twice about our Certified Therapy Dog for reasons so picky and shallow it was unbelievable. Within 30 minutes we felt Sharon's control-freak wrath three times which reflects on the La Quinta brand and reputation.

At times there are policies that we are unable to move around. Our pet policy requires all animals to be on a leash in the public space for the safety and security of all guests and this is a hotel policy. We would have also like to down load your file for your; however, we are linked into a national system and not always able to open unsecure files into a company computer system. I am so sorry that we could not provide further assistance to you while you were a guest here. I hope that you will give us another chance in the future as we truely do care about providing the best possible stay with the friendliest customer service! Thank you so kindly for your time.

This is a new hotel - spacious rooms, welcoming front desk staff, and cookies while you are checking in! The rates were great also. We'll definitely make this a regular stop on our way through Nevada.
