“Nice family resort”
Reviewed August 20, 2008

This is a great location if you want a boating vacation. From the marina you can rent boats of all kinds as well as jet skis. We brought our own boat and were able to slip it for a small nightly fee. We stayed in the motel which has the best location right in front of a swimming beach. Even though swimming beach is in the marina, it has extremely clean water. The motel itself is fairly run down. As you can imagine, sandy feet and sunscreen can take its toll on a room. The decore is very basic with white painted cinder block walls. If your going to bring small kids, ask for extra sheets that you can cover the carpet. The rooms have a refrigerator, but no microwave. You can camp cook on the front porch or use the bbq out front. Be prepared, this is no five star hotel, but the location makes up for it.
The marina itself has all the amenities you would want. The store is well stocked with basic groceries and camping gear. It also has a good selection of marine supplies for your boat and fishing pole, including bait. Everything is very high priced, marked up 50% or so. If you decide to stay here, plan your supplies well to save money, but don't panic if you forget something because the store will have it. The marina has gas both on and off the water at a reasonable price. You also don't have to worry about ice as it is the cheapest thing in the store with 10lb, 20lb and block ice available 24 hours.
The resort also has a restaurant with basic cafe style food. We ate there once and it was so-so and also expensive.

Cottonwood cove is located about 10 miles down the hill from Searchlight, Nevada, on the shore of Lake Mojave. The swim beach is right out the back door ot hte motel rooms and there is a store, cafe, and marina on site so you don't have to run back up the hill to get things. We took advantage of the two-for-one online special and stayed two days. Since it is also halfway between Vegas and Lughlin, we were able to take a cruise on Lake Mead and also ride the jetboat from Laughlin to Lake Havasu and the London Bridge without changing motels. Would like to have stayed longer.

We stayed here because we have family that are avid boat/water sports people and their home is not yet built. It was a quick overnight stay from Vegas back home to LA and for that we were greatful to have a place to lay our heads. But this place is the biggest dump! Unfortunately, if you don't have a trailer/motorhome or houseboat this is the best your gonna get.
It amazes me how much they charge to stay here aprox 105.00 per night and since there are no other options, the weekends in the summer are booked up far in advance. What also amazes me is the 3 or more families that share one room! almost every room had several generations of family hanging out back and forth from the outdoor patio areas to their rooms. And I say "people" loosely. Let's just say, the beverly hillbilies have more class!! My husband was calling it Crackho Cove by the end of or stay!!!
The rooms are large enough and are kind of clean but the carpets are filthy. Our kids were afraid to touch the carpets with their barefeet, so we pulled off the bedspreads off the beds and turned them into throw rugs! We were also afraid to see what if anything would come off the beds. Fortunately we saw no bugs. But there were plenty of flies buzzing around the vicinity so keep the doors closed. basically the rooms reminded me of a prison room, painted cement block walls a TV with 10 chanels.
The resort/marina area is not bad its kept up fairly well considering the number of people that use the facilities. The store on the premises is well maintained and a great place to get snack foods and such. (although the locals would tell you it's too pricey) when your holding a family reunion in one 105 dollar room spend a little cash people!!!
The cafe in the marina is pretty good, but get there early or you'll be waiting forever.
Overall, I'd advise to visit the marina/resort but stay on a houseboat or your trailer.
