A group of us rented the whole house recently and had a wonderful visit. The house is very spacious and filled with charm. It was lovely to arrive in Carson City to a house beautlfully decorated for Christmas. It really put us in the Christmas spirit.

We stayed one night here in the 'Sun Room' mid-week right before Halloween and had the whole house to ourselves. The house, on the corner of a quiet residential street, was decorated for Halloween on the outside, tastefully done on the inside with 'period' pieces. There are five bedrooms total (three upstairs), all with their own bathrooms, microwave and mini-fridge ( the 'Sun Room' has it's own house entrance, too). The kitchen is self-serve, so you can make yourself coffee or tea; there is milk, half and half, sugar, a small selection of cereal, seasonal fresh fruit, yogurt, bagels or bread and some yummy, individually wrapped pastries. We used the pc to check emails and DD was fascinated with the rotary phone and the typewriters! There were plenty of books, etc, to read and emergency phone numbers posted just in case. Everything went smoothly so we never communicated with our hostess on this trip, making reservations via email.
The bed was comfy enough, though softer than I am used to and queen sized. We were warm as each room has it's own thermostat.

The concept is interesting, unhosted inn, and it looked good on the website. However, it didn't measure up to expectations. The house is beautiful but the decoration is cluttered and kitschy. Facilities, the bathroom, internet, in room fridge & microwave were fine but the good pieces of furniture and art were filled in with tacky pieces that ruined the effect.

My biggest complaint was the kitchen. I was the only guest that night so expected a clean kitchen and fresh snacks. What I got was trash in the can from previous occupants, old fruit that should have been thrown out long ago, dirty microwave and the coffee maker that was supposed to start with a push of the button, didn't. Pastries provided were cheap little cellophane wrapped things. So fortunately I'd brought my own favorite tea, coffee and breakfast things so didn't go hungry.

It wouldn't take much attention to bring the place up to standard but as it is I wouldn't go back.

wow - we appreciate feedback but this one is a dilly...let's see if we can respond......

We have received awards and accolades for our historic, arts and crafts, interesting and warm touches to the very period decor. Two sets of guests this morning were raving about the collections of artifacts and how enjoyable they were......each to his own I guess, can't please everyone.
We did have guest durings the day, sorry for some items in the kitchen common trash can, the coffee maker works beautifully when desired water (according the instructions and to your desired strengh of coffee) is added to with the push of a button, pastries are minimal as we aren't truly a bed and breakfast, just an inn......and starbucks coffee, multiple herbal tea choices and cereal, yogurt, etc. are available gratis and as a convenience for guests, over and above any offerings as an Inn - no reason to go hungry........ but for a big breakfast, we don't have facilities to provide. Sorry about the microwave, oops....will remind staff...... And people love the privacy of the Inn........no socializing required.......

We stayed at the Bliss Bungalow mainly hoping the bed would be more comfortable than the one at the Hampton, which is as hard as a slab of concrete. The bed was comfy but we ended up buying some pillows because the two (and only two - no extras in the closet) were wafer thin. There is no one to ask, as this B&B is unattended as mentioned on their web site and in other reviews, so we knew that going in.
Our room, the Sun Room, was pretty nice with a private entrance too. It also has a door that leads to the kitchen so one can sneak out a grab a munchie incognito. The only downfall to that room is that the bathroom is located off an enclosed porch. The windows, and there are a lot of them, only have sheers. At night that means NO privacy going from the bedroom to the bathroom. Bummer to have to be fully decent to make the trip. We improvised a makeshift curtain. A real pain in the...
They do mention that they provide a continental breakfast. It is about the same as any provided elsewhere. Nothing special, though not advertised to be.
Possibly the only real area of concern about the lack of a host being present is making sure things are in order - we found molded sweet rolls and milk in the fridge that was past the use by date. Granted the milk was still OK, but the use by date is for unopened product, and this was opened and half used. We decided to find our meals elsewhere.
Overall we probably would not stay there again unless the Hampton hasn't changed out their beds!

Feedback is always welcome.
We are an Inn and offer a self-serve continental breakfast as that is all that our kitchen facility is capable of. Many love this approach - help yourself, privacy, not having to engage with other strangers and we advertise this as such. Efficiency and privacy is our offering.
Guests didn't see the blinds in the bathroom area that were there to cover all windows....sheers were just for decor, not intended coverage. We will make them more apparent to use.
Apologies for any oversights on food dates - we can certainly fix that!

Let me say upfront that we enjoyed our 2 night stay at Bliss Bungalow, but 'twas not the place for everyone. This is an old and gracious home converted to an inn. We were the only guests. We saw our host twice briefly - they did not live on site. The room was well equipped and comfortable, up a steep flight of stairs (glad we brought 2 small bags instead of 1 large - anticipating this issue). There are ground floor rooms. Well stocked library with traveller resources. Incredibly close to everything you might want to see. Computer and internet provided. Breakfast was...interesting. Everything is labelled but you're entirely on your own. We made our own coffee, helped ourselves from the well-stocked fridge (no cooking, of course) to cereal, muffins, yoghurt, fruit - that kind of thing. Access to the kitchen anytime, so evening tea was nice as well. It was nice to be able to keep our own schedule but part of the charm of an inn is talking to other people. Well, we were on a ghost town road trip, so this fit right in. But not everyone's cup of tea.
