Battle Mountain Inn
Ranked #3 of 5 Hotels in Battle Mountain
Reviewed September 25, 2010

My husband and I stayed at Battle Mountain Inn last week for one night -- a very long and sleepless night. The motel is located right across the street from the train tracks. If you are a less than very heavy sleeper, don't stay here! The trains went through town all night with lots of noise to accompany them. The Inn has very inexpensive rooms. The room was clean, although very old and dated. The bathroom was clean and the shower had plenty of hot water. They did supply a small shampoo, a sliver of soap and a lotion. They do not have hair dryers. The room is equipped with a fairly new refrigerator and microwave oven and tv. It needs a lot of TLC -- walls need to be repaired, new draperies, etc. The staff was very friendly. The breakfast consisted of cereals - the cold variety and also packets of oatmeal and Cream of Wheat -- toast, bagels, coffee and juice. Not bad. If you want a cheap, clean place to stay, this is it. It's terribly noisy, though. There are better choices on I-80.

We got stranded by car problems and winter in Battle Mountain and had to quickly grab a place to crash. This was the closest place off the interstate. There are other choices in town which we found out about the next day.

Our rate was close to $70. No bargain.

The place was cold and functional, but nothing special. It did have WiFi.

In a pinch, I would stay here again, but I doubt I will ever rest my bones in Battle Mountain, Nevada again.

Upon entering the room, my first thought was this is ok. It looked clean and tidy, you could tell it was an older motel of course. The room was quite chilly. When i turned on the heater, it was a little musty, but quickly warmed up. I ended up turning the heat down in the early morning because my room had heated up so much it was a little too hot. The bedding was clean and the towels were too. My bathroom was fairly clean, it could use a little maintenance (like the floor looked like it could be replaced and the sink too). I did not like the service at the front desk. When i checked in, they seemed like it was a bother to be helping me, and it wasnt even that late. The only other complaint i had was the batteries in my remote were dead, and i had to yet again ask the front desk for their services. We left early when we checked out, and the front desk was not yet open, so I didnt have a chance to visit a differect clerk for a different experience. With a litte fine tuning, I feel this motel could be a pleasant stay.

At first glance the room looks adequate. The sheets and towels were clean. The sink looked clean. The toilet looked clean until you lifted the seat. You could see a half hearted attempt was made because the puke was speared around the base of the seat. Then looking on the floor at the base of the toilet the puke splatters were still moist. The bathroom floor looked swept but not sanitized. The tub looked like years of rinsing with an occasional cleaning. We of course kept our shoes on and skipped the shower. The floor of the room was quickly vacuumed but most of the garbage under the bed had a covering of dust (The paper cup had dried completely). Then upon turning on the air my daughter and I began sneezing and coughing. This hotel has the potential to be an adequate sleep over but the cleaning staff needs replaced. The cost was $10. less than the Super 8. Spend the extra ten and have a clean room and a pool for a swim. We did not stick around to see if there was a breakfast. We would have been afraid to eat it anyway. The Colt restaurant was ok. I would say average for a diner.
