We stayed there one night on our way from the ferry to Gros Morne and found it a relaxing, convenient stop over. It is less than 30 minutes from the ferry terminal, so you don’t need to worry if the ferry is late. The inn is in a lovely location by a river. We were in the Orchid Room, which is one of two rooms on the second floor with views of the river and garden/picnic area (the other being Pitcher Plant). I would recommend trying to book one of these two rooms. The room was spacious, with a comfortable queen bed and some chairs and table, a TV and coffeemaker. It was clean, bright and had modern windows, a modern fiber floor and a functional ensuite bathroom. Breakfast was early (7h00 to 8h30), as they cater to people catching the ferry. It was good for us to hear stories and get tips from people who were on their way out of Newfoundland.

We booked online and my husband called to speak with the owner. She was vry nice and friendly. She showed us the rooms and we choose the room at the front with the most windows. It was nice in the morning with the light peeking through. We were the only ones there that night and it was nice to know that they made sure everything was fine before leaving for the night to their own home. Gerard cooked our breakfast in the morning and we had a good chat with him. Breakfast is included in the price. There is a good view from the back deck and patio. We watched tv and just enjoyed the quietness that we really needed. A lot of nice touches and it feels homey there.

Room Tip: Choose ground level because you would have to take suitcases up a staircase

We stayed for one night in this lovely b&b on our way to gros morne from the ferry. The rooms were comfortable and spacious with a beautiful view of the river and mountains. The breakfast was simple and delicious, and we enjoyed a little "kitchen party" where we were able to chat with the lovely inn owners Gerald and Marie, as well as some local Newfoundlanders who were in the valley for work. A wonderful short stay- we will be back for more!

Quiet room heater, it was 11 degrees this morning. Thank goodness there was heat inside.
Waterfront property, lovely trees, shrubbery, hostas, and a big lawn in Newfoundland.

Did I mention the hospitality?

McClellan Inn is just 30 minutes from the ferry tucked away in a quiet serene country side. Gerald provided excellent driving directions from the ferry terminal so it was easy to find even in the dark. The common area is cozy and comfy. The rooms are large with comfortable beds adorned with beautiful hand made quilts by Marie. Breakfast was good with just the right amount of food. Gerald is a great host because of his pleasant conversation and tourist tips. Definitely a place to stay.
