I have nothing but compliments for this outfitter. They were organized, friendly, and provided excellent service, Everything ran on time and the equipment worked well. Anyone thinking of a ride on this river should give Little Outlaw a chance to impress them as much as they impressed us.
The negative thing you should know about this particular river has nothing to do with Little Outlaw. It's about the river trip itself.
My wife and I rented individual kayaks on a Saturday morning in August 2021 and took our ride at 9:30 a.m. We were among the only people on the river who were kayaking. About 90% of the people were tubing, sometimes with dozens of people riding on tubes that were linked together.
While the tubers were mostly polite to us on an individual basis, on the whole—with few exceptions—they tended to be loud and boisterous. Because of that, they subtracted a great deal from the beautiful natural scenery. Some of the tubers played loud music, others smoked. There was a lot of yelling back and forth. Many of the teens engaged in horseplay and catcalling.
I'd advise anyone who wants a peaceful canoe or kayak trip to go on a weekday or at an off-hour unless they want a lot of noise and chaos. It took us about 1.5 hours (the entire first half of our ride) to finally get past most of the tubers and enjoy the scenery in peace.
Not sure why those in charge around here allow people to smoke and play loud music while on the river, but it definitely detracted from our experience.
Awesome experience!! We did the private shuttle for our large group of two families. They were right on time, friendly, and helpful. Helped us get things loaded. The drive to where we launched on the river wasn’t too far maybe 15-20 mins. They got us in life jackets and on the river pretty quick. The 5 hour float was so much fun. It went so fast. We wanted to do another 5 hours when we were done. We will definitely be back next summer and use Little Outlaw again. They picked us up pretty quickly at the end of our tour, loaded our tubes and got us back to our hotel safe and sound. SO MUCH FUN!!🛶
95% of the experience that we had with Little Outlaw was amazing- the river was beautiful and the tubes were a fantastic and fun way to spend the afternoon outside. It was my first time tubing, but my husband had been several other times - and we both had a great time. I also loved the Smith Falls Park stop- it is hard to believe that you are still in Nebraska when you are there with that scenery and that waterfall!
The 5% that wasn't the best was the shuttle ride to the launch point- any other year I would have said it was super convenient and a good service- but this year, I was very uncomfortable with the number of people they densely packed into the buses with zero regard for social distancing.
Little Outlaw Outfitters were superb' everything we needed for our float they handled. We used the shuttle service and the gentleman that was driving was very pleasant and knowledgeable about the river.we will use littleOutlaws again.
We visited in the off season but they made it very easy. They shuttle you up stream and pick the gear when done. Easy way to see the river.
We were new to kayaking on the river. Went all the way from Refuge Camp down time brewer bridge. Be careful where you have to meet, as the trip starting point is not equal to where you meet?!? Didn’t see any wildlife. No advise to what to see or look for while on the water. Upon arrival at brewer bridge, nobody was there to get the equipment back. All in all great day on the water but lack of service from little outlaw canoe company!
